Not to be.<\/p>\n<p>Last Tuesday on Smackdown, The Miz called out Apollo Creed, and Carl Weathers came to the ring and kicked his ass.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Mizanin defends the WWE Intercontinental Title against Apollo Crews.<\/p>\n<p>JBL name-checks Pat Patterson. \u00a0You know that Intercontinental Title tournament Patterson won in Rio? \u00a0You won&#8217;t find that one on WWE Network.<\/p>\n<p>The Miz wins the match clean. \u00a0Wow. \u00a0This is a real heartwarming show so far.<\/p>\n<p>John Cena versus AJ Styles. \u00a0Remember, John Cena is never leaving WWE. \u00a0There might be a trial separation every so often, but he is NEVER leaving.<\/p>\n<p>JBL says AJ Styles has never been in a big match like this one. \u00a0Sure, he&#8217;s headlined the Tokyo Dome, and worked WrestleMania, but&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This crowd is divided. Some are chanting &#8220;John Cena sucks&#8221; on one side of the arena, and some on the other side.<\/p>\n<p>Is this match finally over? \u00a0Really? \u00a0Well, now I know why they blocked out six hours for SummerSlam. \u00a0AJ Styles scores the clean fall over John Cena. \u00a0That was phenomenal. \u00a0No pun intended. \u00a0Cena leaves his armband in the ring for the long, slow walk up the ramp.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Jon Stewart helped make SummerSlam more awesome. \u00a0What does he have in store for us tonight?<\/p>\n<p>Jon Stewart is joining The New Day. That settles it. Kofi &amp; Xavier are doomed.<\/p>\n<p>New Day vs. The Doctors of Dong. \u00a0They really need to teach Stewart the trombone so Woods can focus on the match.<\/p>\n<p>Gallows &amp; Anderson put Stewart in the corner and threaten to give him ringpostitis. The crowd chants &#8220;Yes!&#8221; Darn Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, Big E. runs in and gets his team disqualified to save Stewart. \u00a0The New Day celebrates keeping the titles by cheating. \u00a0I feel like we&#8217;re not setting a good example.<\/p>\n<p>I could have done without WWE reminding me there&#8217;s another pay-per-view in three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Dolph Ziggler is ready to steal the show. \u00a0Dean Ambrose is ready to successfully defend his title. \u00a0Maybe they won&#8217;t find themselves at cross purposes.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m guessing this will end the streak of the heels winning the first five matches on the show.<\/p>\n<p>There have been some legendary WWE Championship matches at SummerSlam. And then there was the year Kevin Nash wrestled Mabel&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>At one point, I wondered if I could take an entire pay-per-view with Mauro Ranallo on play-by-play. \u00a0As it turns out, I can do it.<\/p>\n<p>Dolph goes for a sleeper hold. \u00a0JBL references Strangler Lewis, who may have actually been the last wrestler to win a world title with that hold.<\/p>\n<p>So, yeah, Ambrose wins clean with Dirty Deeds. \u00a0Thank for stopping by, Dolph.<\/p>\n<p>Now, let&#8217;s go to the highlights of our week in New York, including various clips of ESPN whoring itself out for WWE.<\/p>\n<p>Time for our big six woman, I mean five woman&#8230;Heck, here&#8217;s some sort of tag team match.<\/p>\n<p>BREAKING NEWS: Eva Marie has been replaced in the match by the returning Nikki Bella. We hope that&#8217;s okay with everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Becky\/Carmella\/Naomi vs. Natalya\/Alexa\/Nikki. \u00a0Natalya just got twerked by Naomi. Avert your eyes, kids.<\/p>\n<p>Nikki gets the hot tag. \u00a0After some rough sledding with Carmella, Nikki wins with the rack attack. \u00a0Whatever that match was supposed to be, it wasn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;d like to thank Wale for &#8220;My PYT&#8221;, one of the 6,000 official theme songs of SummerSlam.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Menounous tries to interview Rusev and Lana. \u00a0The job is tougher than it looks.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see\u00a0how Finn Balor transforms himself into a human Muppet, and how scary it looks.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s\u00a0Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Global Interstellar Cosmic Championship of the Galaxy.<\/p>\n<p>Balor and Rollins have a good match, especially given that it&#8217;s their first time in with each other.\u00a0 Balor kicks out of the Pedigree, which nobody is supposed to do.\u00a0 Balor goes up top.\u00a0 Balor wins with the Coup de Grace.\u00a0 From NXT champion to WWE Red Champion in four months.<\/p>\n<p>It almost makes up for the fans chanting &#8220;that belt sucks&#8221; at the new Championship Title.<\/p>\n<p>Finn Balor defeated Rusev.\u00a0 Finn Balor defeated Roman Reigns.\u00a0 FIinn Balor just beat Seth Rollins. \u00a0One thing is obvious.\u00a0 WWE is all-in behind Finn Balor.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time for another epic match, as KFC sends &#8220;Colonel Ziggler&#8221; out to fight Mike Mizanin, who is wearing a second-rate chicken suit.\u00a0 Colonel Ziggler wins.\u00a0 So, technically, Dolph did beat a champion at SummerSlam this year.<\/p>\n<p>Your next match is for the United States title.\u00a0 And speaking of Rusev and Roman Reigns, here they are.\u00a0 Rusev attacks Reigns before the bell.\u00a0 Reigns destroys Rusev with a chair.\u00a0 The crowd, of course, chants for Heath Slater.<\/p>\n<p>No United States title match tonight.\u00a0 Rusev is unable to compete.\u00a0 So, Roman Reigns is &#8220;the guy&#8221;, but he can&#8217;t be in there with Rusev.\u00a0 Got it.<\/p>\n<p>Time for the main event.\u00a0 Michael Cole and David Otunga get called home, so we have Mauro, JBL, Graves and Saxton calling the next match.\u00a0 Brock Lesnar versus Randy Orton.<\/p>\n<p>The match begins.\u00a0 Suplex City.\u00a0 Suplex City.\u00a0 And then Table City.\u00a0 Seven suplexes, one table destroyed.\u00a0 Lesnar goes to put Orton through a second table, and it&#8217;s an RKO From Outta Nowhere.\u00a0 Then a DDT.\u00a0 Then another RKO!<\/p>\n<p>Brock kicks out.\u00a0 Brock fights back.\u00a0 Brock hits Randy with an F5.\u00a0 Randy kicks out.\u00a0 Brock takes the gloves off, literally.\u00a0 Brock punches Orton and elbows him and Orton is busted open.\u00a0 Like a tomato can.<\/p>\n<p>The blood is pooling, and the doctors can&#8217;t stop it.\u00a0 Brock Lesnar wins by TKO.\u00a0 That escalated quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Brock beat up Randy some more.\u00a0 And some more.\u00a0 And Shane McMahon comes to the ring and Brock hits an F5 on him too.\u00a0 And Brock walks off.<\/p>\n<p>Well, that was quite a performance.\u00a0 Join us for the VIP Roundtable in a couple of hours.\u00a0 Or check with James and Greg for the Livecast post-game show at the bottom of the hour.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pwtor-end-article-groups pwtor-entity-placement\" id=\"pwtor-2580435794\"><div id=\"pwtor-3905543778\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_medrec_3\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_medrec_3\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_medrec_3\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\nTHANK YOU FOR VISITING<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>The\u00a0Pat McNeill Live blog of WWE SummerSlam is live NOW. \u00a0The pre-show?
