ANDREWS, PWTORCH SPECIALIST<\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>(5)\u00a0Kyle O\u2019Reilly (c) vs. Adam Cole &#8211;\u00a0ROH Heavyweight Championship Match<\/h3>\n<p>Where to start.\u00a0 So I\u2019ve seen ROH once or twice, falling instantly in love with ACH and Jay Lethal, but I never really got into it.\u00a0 My guess is that it\u2019s a pretty damn good promotion, making me wish I would have stumbled across it in the mid-2000\u2019s.\u00a0 Adam Cole is a mystery to me, but thanks to the co-chairman\u2019s (all praises) podcast on ROH\u2019s Final Battle show a month back I at least know the name.\u00a0 Adam Cole is a member of the Bullet Club according to his eyeball video and his music is great.\u00a0 Kelly and Corino do some type of shtick surrounding Cole\u2019s music.\u00a0 I guess you have to be there.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly is out next, and as a fun fact, did you know that he can wrestle his ass off?<\/p>\n<p>The two exchange words in the middle of the ring.\u00a0 There is a handshake, begrudgingly at best, and Cole spits in O\u2019Reilly\u2019s face.\u00a0 Code of honor my ass.\u00a0 It means nothing apparently.\u00a0 The two exchange forearms before O\u2019Reilly takes down Cole, mounts him, and slaps on an armbar that sends Cole scurrying for the ropes to break it.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly continues working the arm, but misses a forearm in the corner.\u00a0 Cole stomps him, has a little comedy interaction that nearly gets him rear-naked choked, and shoves O\u2019Reilly off the top ropes when O\u2019Reilly tries to fly.\u00a0 Cole chases down O\u2019Reilly outside, grabs a chair, and smacks O\u2019Reilly in the shoulder with it.\u00a0 By the way, I love the ref that they brought in for this.\u00a0 His voice carries like a son of a bitch.<\/p>\n<p>Back inside, Cole goes to work on O\u2019Reilly\u2019s shoulder with an arm ringer and a whip into the corner shoulder first.\u00a0 Cole talks himself into a stiff forearm by O\u2019Reilly.\u00a0 They trade a few shots before Cole hits the ropes to meet an O\u2019Reilly knee.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly lands a combination of vicious kicks and forearms followed by a leg trip.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly dumps Cole to the mat with a back suplex and goes for a kneebar that Cole breaks at the ropes.\u00a0 He\u2019s laying stiff kicks to Cole\u2019s legs and arms before landing a Tiger Knee to Cole that would make Sagat nod approvingly.\u00a0 They trade reversals in the middle of the ring before Cole lands an overhead neckbreaker that Kelly calls The Last Shot.\u00a0 They square up again, clutching each other\u2019s hair, and exchange rapid fire punches, no Batsu.\u00a0 They both lands kicks to the stomach and both men are down.<\/p>\n<p>Through grunts and groans, O\u2019Reilly boots Cole\u2019s head into oblivion before nailing a brainbuster for two.\u00a0 He goes right into an armbar attempt, but Cole rolls to his feet and stomps O\u2019Reilly right in the head.\u00a0 His foot came down like a god damn hammer!\u00a0 Cole is back on O\u2019Reilly\u2019s shoulder, stomping it relentlessly.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly\u2019s comeback is stopped swiftly by a Shining Wizard.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly gets blasted by a running knee and another Last Shot, but escapes defeat by an inch and \u00be.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly catches Cole\u2019s superkick and transitions into an ankle lock.\u00a0 Cole is out, delivering four superkicks that leave O\u2019Reilly defenseless on his knees.\u00a0 Cole lifts him up and delivers ANOTHER Last Shot for three.<\/p>\n<p>Winner: Adam Cole to win the ROH Heavyweight Championship<\/p>\n<p><em>(Andrews\u2019 Analysis: Adam Cole\u2019s reaction after he won was the same as me.\u00a0 He couldn\u2019t believe he won and I couldn\u2019t believe that the match was over that quickly.\u00a0 It was a good match, don\u2019t get me wrong.\u00a0 The short bell to bell time is what is jarring.\u00a0 I\u2019ll say this though, the match felt real.\u00a0 O\u2019Reilly grunted and slobbered all over himself to take down Cole, but Cole just kept on chugging along, using the same offense on a loop to drop O\u2019Reilly and pick up the title.\u00a0 Based off of this match I would absolutely like to see more of Adam Cole.\u00a0 I bet he has a treasure trove of great matches, much like O\u2019Reilly.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We get a not-so-quick commercial for New Japan\u2019s schedule of big events and there is a lot going on.\u00a0 Not the calendar per se, but the god damn thing is just shouting and flashing glittery graphics.\u00a0 It\u2019s an onslaught.\u00a0 I get it, Man!\u00a0 I signed up for the network!\u00a0 I\u2019ll be there!\u00a0 Please, just calm down.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>(6)\u00a0Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga &amp; Tanga Roa) (c) vs. Togi Makabe &amp; Tomoaki Honma vs. Toru Yano &amp; Tomohiro Ishii &#8211;\u00a0IWGP Tag Team Championship Triple Threat<\/h3>\n<p>Oh the cluster f- of cluster f-s.\u00a0 How is this freaking thing going to work?\u00a0 Oh wait, all is above board because Ishii is out with Yano and he looks ready for war.\u00a0 This is a welcomed sight.\u00a0 I\u2019m new to Yano, but apparently he was going around stealing the tag belts, the World Tag League trophies, and Corino\u2019s wallet.\u00a0 How much could possibly be in that old dusty thing anyways?\u00a0 Makabe and Honma come out to altered music, which is a bummer because Kelly and Corino tells us that the real deal is awesome.\u00a0 Apparently Karl Anderson was tweeting about the event.\u00a0 I wonder if the money was worth it at this point.\u00a0 The champs are out next, stalking to the ring with kick ass theme music that matches their vibe.\u00a0 Ahh hell Tanga, you ruined it!\u00a0 You can hear him tell Roa \u201cwatch your step\u201d as smoke fills the arena.\u00a0 At least we know he\u2019s a nice guy.\u00a0 Good partner to have.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1120964820\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Tanga and Roa waste no time attacking Yano and they grab their belts.\u00a0 He\u2019s rolled into the ring and they put the boots to him before the champs turn on Makabe and Honma.\u00a0 Yano is whipped into the ropes and shoulder-blocked outside.\u00a0 Honma is in, dropping elbows to the back of Roa\u2019s head.\u00a0 He goes for the falling timber head-drop that misses.\u00a0 Roa tells someone \u201cYeah, f- you too\u201d before powerslamming Honma.\u00a0 Yano tags Roa\u2019s back, removes the turnbuckle pad, and whips Honma into it.\u00a0 He\u2019s a flabby pancake of a man, but I like the way he thinks.\u00a0 Ishii gets tagged in and he beats the piss out of Honma with a barrage of chops and forearms in rapid succession.\u00a0 He hits a beautiful vertical suplex for two as Yano tags himself back in.\u00a0 Honma slaps Yano, which is enough for Yano to tag in Tanga and he\u2019s gone.<\/p>\n<p>Tanga misses a held Honma and decks Roa, getting suplexed by Honma as he spins back around.\u00a0 It was pure dead weight that Honma just muscled up.\u00a0 He tries to tag out, but Yano jumps in and drags Honma away.\u00a0 He gets whipped into the exposed buckle as Makabe gets tagged in.\u00a0 This thick bastard shoulder blocks Tanga and Ishii and hits a snap powerslam on Roa.\u00a0 Kelly: \u201cFolks if you\u2019re scoring at home that\u2019s about twelve F bombs in this match.\u201d\u00a0 I haven\u2019t been acknowledging it, but Carlin\u2019s seven words are flying out at a staggering pace.<\/p>\n<p>Makabe hits running clotheslines on everyone, reducing Ishii to a punchline as he and Yano clank into one another and Makabe spears them both.\u00a0 This better not be a precursor to his 2017.\u00a0 Tanga and Roa get clotheslined by Makabe as Honma reenters the ring.\u00a0 They both hit clotheslines, ten-punches and bridging Northern Lights suplexes for two.\u00a0 Honma skitters away as Tanga reverses a waistlock and unloads on Makabe with forearms and knees, dropping Makabe to one knee.\u00a0 \u201cBest defensive wrestler in the game,\u201d touts Corino.\u00a0 Tanga runs the ropes, creating misdirection, and leaps onto Makabe for a chokehold, but is spinebustered to the mat.\u00a0 Uhh, that\u2019s better pretty damn good defense as well.<\/p>\n<p>Both men tag in their partners with Honma casting a nipple-bleed spell with two stiff ass chops.\u00a0 \u201cF- that s-!\u201d screams Roa, followed by \u201cI hate you Mo********er!\u201d\u00a0 The hell with cutting someone off in traffic.\u00a0 Did Honma sleep with Roa\u2019s wife or something?\u00a0 There was some real emotion there.\u00a0 Homan whips Roa into the buckles for a bulldog on the rebound and that ridiculous falling headbutt.\u00a0 The crowd explodes over it, but they also went batsh- over Kota Ibushi as a cartoon character.\u00a0 Honma gets booted in the face as the commentators crack up over Roa\u2019s liberal use of cursing.\u00a0 Depending on the camera angle, either Honma hit a facebuster or Roa powerbombed him, but it\u2019s open to interpretation as they both lay on the mat.\u00a0 Honma is up first and gets destroyed by an Ishii clothesline.\u00a0 As does Roa.\u00a0 Tanga dropkicks Ishii and Yano just kind of knees him.\u00a0 The Guerillas are all over the place &#8211; splashing, clotheslining, and swearing loudly.\u00a0 They are alone with Honma and deliver a tandem powerbomb as Roa screams, \u201cEat s- Mot*******er.\u201d\u00a0 Yeah, Honma did something to someone and is paying dearly for it.<\/p>\n<p>Makabe jumps in, smacks the guerillas around, and screams \u201cf****ng come on!\u201d\u00a0 Kelly has laughed himself into tears as the Guerillas drop Makabe to the mat.\u00a0 Makabe hits a double clothesline, leaving only Makabe and Honma in the ring.\u00a0 They sandwich Roa with a clothesline.\u00a0 Makabe screams \u201cf- you!\u201d at Roa before landing another clothesline.\u00a0 He holds Roa for Honma\u2019s headbutt, but it only gets a two.\u00a0 Makabe powerbombs the hell out of Roa as Honma goes up top for the super falling tree headbutt.\u00a0 1, 2, Ishii breaks it up!\u00a0 Ishii headbutts Honma, fires off a round of forearms, but gets blasted by a diving Honma shoulder-block\/headbutt.\u00a0 Honma goes for a headbutt off the ropes on Tanga, but is caught in a Gun Stun!\u00a0 Great catch!\u00a0 He jumps up to catch Makabe with the same, but is caught.\u00a0 Roa rolls inside as Tanga slips away from Makabe and they hit Guerilla Warfare.\u00a0 Makabe rolls outside, leaving only Honma.\u00a0 Honma fights out of Guerilla Warfare but is booted in the stomach by Tanga as Yano is seen creeping up on the apron.\u00a0 He lightly brushes Honma\u2019s back before Honma darts into a spinebuster by Tanga.\u00a0 Yano runs into a Roa clothesline and the Guerillas run into a double clothesline by Ishii.\u00a0 They retaliate with a double headbutt before lifting Ishii up for a double suplex, but get cup-check-uppercutted by Yano.\u00a0 Double clothesline by Ishii to The Guerillas.\u00a0 They both rock back, with Roa staggering into Yano who schoolboys him for the three.<\/p>\n<p>Winners: Tomohiro Ishii &amp; Toru Yano to win the IWGP Tag Team Championship<\/p>\n<p><em>(Andrews\u201d Analysis: I didn\u2019t want to watch this initially, but this wound up being a really good match.\u00a0 Not only was it chaotic from start to finish, but the cannon shots of swearing reached such ridiculous levels that I started cracking up minutes after I was getting pissed at Corino and Kelly for focusing on it instead of the match.\u00a0 Definitely check this match out and be prepared to have a good time.\u00a0 Also, I\u2019m happy to see that Ishii, besides the one comedy moment, was treated like a killing machine hell-bent on destruction.\u00a0 I think I\u2019m going to like the pairing of him and Yano.)<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>(7)\u00a0\u00a0KUSHIDA vs. Hiromu Takahashi &#8211;\u00a0IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship<\/h3>\n<p>Now it\u2019s my turn to curse.\u00a0 Here we fu***ng go!\u00a0 For anyone who has been reading along as I discover NJPW, you know EXACLTY where KUSHIDA ranks in the pecking order of pro wrestlers for me.\u00a0 For those who don\u2019t, I\u2019m a bit of a fan.\u00a0 Takahashi I am unfamiliar with, BUT, if he\u2019s getting a shot against KUSHIDA it\u2019s safe to say that he can go and do so at an extremely high level.\u00a0 Corino and Kelly mention that they\u2019ve seen Takahashi go from a young man to what he has transformed into.\u00a0 Giant bouncy balls are being bandied about the arena as Takahashi makes his way to the ring.\u00a0 Ahh, he\u2019s Los Ingobernables de Japon.\u00a0 Hey, if Naito gave him the vouch then that\u2019s good enough for me.\u00a0 Then again, didn\u2019t Hogan have Virgil and Bagwell in HIS group?\u00a0 You know what, I\u2019m not going to think too hard about it and enjoy this.\u00a0 Takahashi\u2019s hairstyle is awesome \u2013 fluffed, feathered, and dyed like a true pec***ead.\u00a0 I love it.\u00a0 And then we get it.\u00a0 The intro video, the rolling drums, the man himself.\u00a0 KUSHIDA is here and he\u2019s got his championship McFly colors.\u00a0 The cameraman does a great job of filming just over Takahashi\u2019s shoulder as KUSHIDA makes his way to the ring.\u00a0 It\u2019s a short shot, but it looked great.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3724461610\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Takahashi shoves KUSHIDA off the turnbuckles as the champion checks his watch and we\u2019re off.\u00a0 Takahashi climbs to the second turnbuckle, but KUSHIDA pops off the floor and hits a rolling kick that dumps Takahashi to the floor with a thud.\u00a0 KUSHIDA wastes little time going up top to hit that crazy Swanton of his right in front of Liger.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure he approved.\u00a0 They head back inside, where KUSHIDA works the arm with the Arn Anderson arm-first slam and a stomp to that very same arm.\u00a0 He sandwiches Takahashi\u2019s arm between his legs, wrenching back to apply pressure before Takahashi gets the ropes.\u00a0 Kelly: \u201cMexico changes a man.\u201d\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 They trade smacks to the chest, with KUSHIDA getting the better.\u00a0 He whips Takahashi to the corner, but Takahashi rides the mat belly-first like he\u2019s on a Crocodile Mile to the outside.\u00a0 KUSHIDA runs after him, but Takahashi runs back in.\u00a0 As KUSHIDA hops onto the apron, Takahashi dives over him and delivers a sunset-flip powerbomb that damn near dematerializes KUSHIDA!\u00a0 There was a sick thud and KUSHIDA just disappeared out of camera view!<\/p>\n<p>Takahashi saunters back into the ring as Marty, the ref, checks on KUSHIDA.\u00a0 A doctor comes over and checks for a possible concussion as Takahashi takes a squat and waits.\u00a0 KUSHIDA recovers enough to get back in as Marty just decides to start the count.\u00a0 He and Red Shoes, Man.\u00a0 Takahashi tells the ref that KUSHIDA isn\u2019t done and stomps away at him before smacking the back of his head.\u00a0 BIG chop by Takahashi and a superkick to the back of the head.\u00a0 KUSHIDA elbows his way out of a fireman\u2019s carry pickup and scores with a nasty looking fallaway driver &#8211; sorry, Barnett isn\u2019t here to hold my hand &#8211; that could have broken Takahashi\u2019s neck as his face was stuffed into the bottom of the turnbuckle padding.<\/p>\n<p>KUSHIDA\u2019s head is clear, landing a running clothesline and hammer-fist before cartwheeling into a low dropkick right as Takahashi drops in slump.\u00a0 Great timing.\u00a0 He boots Takahashi in the arm thrice and lands a back elbow when Takahashi tries to create space with a whip to the ropes.\u00a0 KUSHIDA rolls up Takahashi\u2019s body for the Hoverboard lock, but it\u2019s reversed into a German Suplex. Takahashi holds on!\u00a0 He rolls through and powers KUSHIDA up for a second one that\u2019s released!\u00a0 That\u2026was\u2026amazing.\u00a0 Marty checks KUSHIDA after getting dumped on the back of his head, but ultimately deems everything safe to continue.\u00a0 Takahashi heads up top, leaps, and tries for a headscissors to fling KUSHIDA over the ropes.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t go well.\u00a0 Takahashi lands ribcage-first on the top rope as KUSHIDA falls in a heap.\u00a0 KUSHIDA rolls outside and Takahashi improvises, going all the way to the top rope and leaping halfway across the ring with a senton to KUSHIDA!\u00a0 Jesus Christ!\u00a0 The thud on the landing was all tailbone!<\/p>\n<p>Takahashi rolls KUSHIDA back in, going up top again to deliver a kneedrop that he holds for a pinfall.\u00a0 1, 2, kickout.\u00a0 KUSHIDA gets laced by a forearm, but counters with a Pele kick and both men are left groggy.\u00a0 Takahashi clotheslines KUSHIDA over the top rope, with KUSHIDA flipping backwards and onto the apron.\u00a0 Takahashi takes off again for the sunset flip powerbomb, but KUSHIDA backflips away and rushes in to meet Takahashi\u2019s elbow.\u00a0 Takahashi escapes to the apron, but instead of heading back inside he races towards KUSHIDA and leaps for a dropkick.\u00a0 KUSHIDA uses the ring post to kick his body outward and catch Takahashi into an armbar on the floor!\u00a0 Holy f****ng s-!\u00a0 The crowd erupts as KUSHIDA pulls as hard as he can on Takahashi\u2019s arm.\u00a0 KUSHIDA is forced to break the hold as Marty gets to seventeen.\u00a0 Instead of rolling in for the count-out he takes Takahashi with him and they\u2019re both in at 19.<\/p>\n<p>KUSHIDA boots Takahashi on the arm, and again.\u00a0 Ouch.\u00a0 The third kick is blocked, but he smacks Takahashi and gets that third kick.\u00a0 And a forth.
