Styles successfully defended his WWE Championship against Daniel Bryan, who had been rumored to not want to take part in the event in Saudi Arabia. \u00a0Samoa Joe, who recently had a rivalry with A.J., attacked him following the match. \u00a0A.J. requested Joe take Bryan\u2019s place at Crown Jewel, and that request was granted. \u00a0A.J. successfully defended his championship over Joe once again.<br \/>\nAs I talked about in yesterday\u2019s primer, Shane McMahon inserted himself into the finals of the World Cup and defeated Dolph Ziggler. \u00a0Also, at Crown Jewel, The Bar retained their Smackdown Tag Team Championship over New Day.<\/p>\n<p>Smackdown Women\u2019s Champion Becky Lynch cut the first promo last week discussing her match with Ronda Rousey upcoming at Survivor Series. \u00a0Charlotte Flair was asked by Smackdown G.M. Paige to be the captain for women\u2019s team for Smackdown at Survivor Series but declined for now. \u00a0U.S. Champion Shinsuke Nakamura successfully defended his title over R-Truth, who replaced an injured Tye Dillinger. \u00a0In the run-up to the World Cup, Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy defeated Randy Orton and the Miz. \u00a0Following the match, Randy Orton RKO\u2019d all three other participants in the match including his own partner.<\/p>\n<p>Thus far, WWE.com has advertised these items for tonight:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How will Shane McMahon &amp; Paige respond to Raw\u2019s Survivor Series bombshells?<\/li>\n<li>Will Becky Lynch respond to Ronda Rousey?<\/li>\n<li>How will Shane McMahon\u2019s WWE World Cup victory effect Team Blue<\/li>\n<li>Is A.J. Styles ready for Brock Lesnar?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the moment, no matches have been announced.<\/p>\n<h3>Shane McMahon &amp; Paige Response to Raw Surivior Series Announcements<\/h3>\n<p>Last night on Raw, we learned that interim G.M. Baron Corbin will captain the Raw men\u2019s team in a managerial role heading into the Survivor Series match against Smackdown\u2019s team. \u00a0Alexa Bliss was announced as the captain for the women\u2019s team in the same role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVacationing\u201d G.M. Kurt Angle was to face Corbin for the right to captain team Raw. \u00a0Corbin left the building as he was being pursued by Braun Strowman whom had been cost the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel in part due to Corbin. \u00a0Angle instead faced Drew McIntyre, and lost via submission. \u00a0At the onset of the show Corbin announced that Strowman, McIntyre, and Ziggler would be part of team Raw.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Smackdown G.M. Paige asked former women\u2019s champion Charlotte Flair to captain the women\u2019s team. \u00a0She declined; however, Paige asked Charlotte to reconsider to which Charlotte agreed. \u00a0Tonight, we should expect Paige to follow up on this as well as Shane having input on the men\u2019s match. \u00a0He did captain team Smackdown last year.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3089581931\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis: I like how Charlotte initially declined to be team captain. \u00a0It shows a level of humility given she was coming off of losing her championship match to Becky Lynch. \u00a0I still expect her to be the captain, and given Becky\u2019s popularity it will be hard to make the fans want to feel sympathy long term for Charlotte as she\u2019s still more of a natural heel. \u00a0That said, I expect Shane to captain team Smackdown. \u00a0It will be interesting to see the dynamics if any between he and the Miz, the man he \u201creplaced\u201d in the World Cup final. \u00a0This is me speculating but I would think Miz, Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, and Daniel Bryan would be the logical men\u2019s team for Smackdown. \u00a0Rey Mysterio would be in the mix as well. \u00a0You have quite a bit of the \u201codd couple\u201d dynamics WWE goes for around Survivor Series time with Miz &amp; Bryan and Orton &amp; Hardy. \u00a0R-Truth and Tye Dillinger would be fringe candidates if you want a jobber to take easy pin falls. \u00a0For the women it\u2019s anybody\u2019s guess with Charlotte, Asuka, Naomi, the IIconics, Mandy Rose &amp; Sonya Deville, and Lana all in the mix.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Becky Lynch Response to Ronda Rousey?<\/h3>\n<p>In a battle of women\u2019s champions, Smackdown\u2019s Becky Lynch will face Raw\u2019s Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series.<\/p>\n<p>Last week on Smackdown, Becky fired the first \u201cshot across the bow\u201d as she discussed the upcoming contest. \u00a0Most notably, with Ronda being dubbed the \u201cbaddest woman on the planet,\u201d Becky questioned from which planet is Ronda. \u00a0She said she was heading to Survivor Series to rip Ronda\u2019s arm off.<\/p>\n<p>Ronda responded on Raw last night. She pointed out things such as when Becky\u2019s alarm was going off for school, Ronda\u2019s mom was waking her up to try to break her arm (well that could lead to anger issues). \u00a0When Becky was in clown college, she was training for the Olympics. \u00a0When Becky was a flight attendant &#8220;serving snacks,\u201d she was in the midst of a dominant MMA championship run.<\/p>\n<p>We can expect a response from Becky tonight.<\/p>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis: I\u2019m not a fan of hitting below the belt the way Ronda did last night. \u00a0Having worked with many flight attendants as an airline pilot, I could tell you they do a lot more than \u201cserve snacks.\u201d \u00a0Perhaps I\u2019m taking Ronda\u2019s flight attendant comment a bit to heart, but it the bigger picture it just felt like she was hitting below the belt for the sake of doing so rather than trying to tell us why she\u2019s superior to Becky. \u00a0I&#8217;m fascinated to continue to watch the build to this match as Becky is still technically the heel; however, she hasn\u2019t \u201cheeled\u201d on the crowd in recent promos. \u00a0If anything, Ronda was a heel last night in taking her shots at Ronda and proclaiming to be the \u201cbaddest bitch on the planet.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Shane McMahon WWE World Cup Victory<\/h3>\n<p>This past Friday at Crown Jewel \u2026 in Saudi Arabia (that is where it was right? \u00a0Asking for a friend) \u2026 Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon replaced an \u201cinjured\u201d Miz in the World Cup final and defeated Dolph Ziggler from Raw. \u00a0According to what was on the line, Shane is now the \u201cbest in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week on Smackdown, prior to the tournament, Shane threatened to fire the Smackdown finalist if he lost in the finals. \u00a0Tonight, we follow up on this monumental accomplishment by Shane-O-Mac.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1822335770\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis: Sarcasm? Ya think? This has got to be, by far and away, the stupidest thing WWE has done recently. \u00a0I lived through Katie Vick, McMahonism, the Spirit Squad, Hot Lesbian Action, etc. and I\u2019m saying this. Let me ask a question. Could the New York Mets and Minnesota Twins insert themselves into the World Series if they took out the L.A. Dodgers and Boston Red Sox this year? The World Cup was silly, but WWE could have made it work by making the winner get a championship opportunity. \u00a0Did they do this to get people talking and take the attention off of Crown Jewel? \u00a0Someone needs to send a memo to WWE that you should want &#8220;people talking\u201d about good booking, not something as silly as Shane McMahon inserting himself into a tournament in which he did not participate. \u00a0This is 2018. \u00a0The roster is deep enough to avoid needing the McMahons to do things like this.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>A.J. Styles Ready for Brock Lesnar?<\/h3>\n<p>At Crown Jewel, in Saudi Arabia, A.J. Styles retained his WWE Championship by defeating Samoa Joe whom he had a feud with going back to SummerSlam. \u00a0Brock Lesnar regained the Universal Championship by defeating Braun Strowman with help from interim Raw G.M. Baron Corbin.<\/p>\n<p>Last year at Survivor Series A.J. and Lesnar faced each other in the battle of champions which saw Lesnar come out on top. \u00a0This essentially is part II. \u00a0Following the match last year, A.J. vowed to win their next match citing Rocky when he defeated Apollo Creed in Rocky II following Apollo\u2019s victory in the original Rocky. \u00a0Tonight, we begin the build towards A.J.-Lesnar II.<\/p>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis: \u00a0As a die-hard Rocky fan, you won\u2019t hear me complain about comparisons to Rocky in WWE promos. \u00a0A.J. had a great showing in last year\u2019s match only to come up short. \u00a0Given the audible WWE had to call putting the title on Lesnar due to Roman Reigns\u2019 leukemia, it\u2019s anybody\u2019s guess who goes over this time. \u00a0While A.J. certainly wouldn\u2019t suffer losing to Lesnar again, you can only beat the WWE Champion so much. \u00a0Keeping Lesnar strong helps the opponent who eventually conquers him, and thus I would tend to think he goes over again. \u00a0The other way to look at it is you can tell the story of Lesnar being too focused on UFC, thus giving a reason to put A.J. over. \u00a0This could also be the way to get the Universal Championship off of him. \u00a0Time will tell but I am definitely locked into this storyline.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Start Time &amp; Matches Advertised<\/h3>\n<p>The arena website shows that doors will open at 5:30 p.m. local. \u00a0They advertise these matches:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A.J.
