AT THE MOHEGAN SUN ARENA AT CASEY PLAZA<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>AIRS ON USA NETWORK, 8:00PM EST<br \/>\nBY FRANK PETEANI (@FrankPeteani), PWTORCH SPECIALIST<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>Announcers: Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>In Memoriam: King Kong Bundy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>We were saddened today to learn the news of the passing of Christopher Pallies, better known to us wrestling fans as King Kong Bundy.\u00a0 He was 61 years of age and the cause of death is unknown at this point.<\/p>\n<p>He famously main evented WrestleMania 2, challenging Hulk Hogan for the WWF Championship (as it was then known) in a steel cage match.\u00a0 That feud is very near to my heart.\u00a0 It is the first I got into as a kid when I started watching WWF in 1986.\u00a0 Who could forget Bundy\u2019s attack on Hogan on Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event a few months prior in a match with Magnificent Muraco that lead to the WrestleMania encounter.<\/p>\n<p>Bundy not only tangled with Hogan through the years but with the late WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant and was even an opponent of the Undertaker at WrestleMania in 1995 in the embryotic stages of \u2018Taker\u2019s streak.\u00a0 Bundy was a member of Ted DiBiase\u2019s Million Dollar Corporation at the time.\u00a0 He frequently teamed with Big John Studd while a member the Heenan family.\u00a0 They were the opponents of Hulk Hogan and \u201cMr. Wonderful\u201d Paul Orndorff on an episode of WWF Superstars when Orndorff betrayed Hogan after the match in one of more infamous heel turns.\u00a0 He defeated S.D. (Special Delivery) Jones at the inaugural WrestleMania in nine seconds.\u00a0 At that time, he was managed by \u201cThe Mouth of the South\u201d Jimmy Hart.\u00a0 He was famous for demanding a \u201cfive count\u201d from referees after hitting his signature Avalanche splash finisher<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few tweets showing support for Bundy:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Saddened to hear of King Kong Bundy&#39;s passing. I LOVE YOU <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/U752kS5oj2\">pic.twitter.com\/U752kS5oj2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; The Iron Sheik (@the_ironsheik) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/the_ironsheik\/status\/1102900472191508485?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 5, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In my opinion he\u2019s one of the more underappreciated and forgotten heels in the history of wrestling at least from the 1980s and on.\u00a0 Rest in peace sir, and your fans send you family and friends our deepest condolences<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Arena and Items Advertised by WWE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>WWE returns to the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza for Smackdown after the show appeared in July of 2018.\u00a0 The arena opened for business in 1999 and has hosted WWE events as far back as 2002, including now-defunct shows such as Velocity and Heat and some of the original incarnations of NXT.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what is advertised by <a href=\"http:\/\/wwe.com\/\">WWE.com<\/a> for tonight.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-633707888\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>R-Truth to issue another U.S. Championship open challenge<\/li>\n<li>The Miz to face Jey Uso<\/li>\n<li>Is Kevin Owens looking to gain more momentum heading into WWE Fastlane<\/li>\n<li>Will the Hardy Boyz continue their quest to become the greatest tag team?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>R-Truth U.S. Championship Open Challenge<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Last week, U.S. Champion R-Truth issued an open challenge for his title alongside Carmella\u2026and gave us a seven-second dance break.\u00a0 He cited John Cena as his hero going back to when he was a \u201clittle tyke,\u201d when he was doing the U.S. Championship open challenge.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure if Truth realizes he\u2019s five years older than John.\u00a0 Never mind.<\/p>\n<p>Both Andrade and Rey Mysterio answered the challenge, and thus we had a triple threat match.\u00a0 Mysterio and Andrade have been involved in a feud going back towards the end of last year.\u00a0 Their last encounter was a two-out-of-three falls match that ended due to outside interference.\u00a0 Truth initially hesitated but agreed to do it because he wanted to make John Cena proud.\u00a0 Truth would win via pin fall as he rolled up Mysterio.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, he issues another open challenge.<\/p>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis:\u00a0 It would be interesting to see what people like Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair, Barry Windham, etc. would think of the mockery they\u2019ve made of this title.\u00a0 R-Truth in no way should be beating top stars such as Mysterio and Andrade.\u00a0 It does the title no favors and defines both of those men down.\u00a0 R-Truth is not the worst wrestler in the world, but this is not the role he should be playing.\u00a0 As far as who should answer tonight how about Samoa Joe come out and steamroll through him in two minutes, and that way we can get to real U.S. Championship matches.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Miz vs. Jey Uso<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This coming Sunday at Fastlane, Smackdown Tag Team Champions the Usos (Jimmy &amp; Jey) will defend their titles against former champions and the men from whom they took the title in McMiz (Shane McMahon &amp; The Miz).\u00a0 Miz\u2019s father will be at ringside.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a YouTube clip from a few weeks ago when Miz apologized to Shane and convinced him to make a rematch with the Usos:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Miz asks Shane McMahon to make a rematch with The Usos: SmackDown LIVE, Feb. 19, 2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iLwW9DXozRs?list=PL6C6A4475B56EC5B1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the run-up to that match, Miz takes on Jey Uso tonight.<\/p>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis:\u00a0 I was Greg Parks\u2019 guest co-host on Wrestling Night in America this past Sunday and we discussed this topic.\u00a0 All options are on the table as far as how this ends up, which likely leads to Shane McMahon vs. the Miz as WrestleMania.\u00a0 Logically, Miz turns on Shane and plays the heel.\u00a0 For me, it\u2019s not out of the realm of possibility that Shane turns citing frustration with Miz but doesn\u2019t necessarily \u201cturn heel.\u201d\u00a0 They can just have a match to get out their frustrations with each other, and both remain babyface after the match.\u00a0 It\u2019s also not crazy that they don\u2019t break up and have another match together at \u2018Mania and break up for a storyline in the following months.\u00a0 That\u2019s the least likely scenario, but one that should not be taken off the table.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Kevin Owens and Momentum Heading into Fastlane<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In an unexpected turn of events last week, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon interrupted the contract signing for the WWE Championship match at Fastlane between champion Daniel Bryan and challenger Kofi Kingston of New Day.\u00a0 He said it was his responsibility to make the best matches possible and offer the best \u201cbox office\u201d possible.\u00a0 He replaced Kofi with a returning Kevin Owens.\u00a0 We had been hearing about Kevin\u2019s return through vignettes of him and his family going bowling, going to the movies, etc.\u00a0 He was previously a member of the Raw roster, but apparently is on Smackdown now due to his being absent for an extended period.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a YouTube clip of the segment:<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-4023956177\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kevin Owens returns and replaces Kofi Kingston at WWE Fastlane: SmackDown LIVE, Feb. 26, 2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gqh3cBE-Nf8?list=PL6C6A4475B56EC5B1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kofi expressed sadness in his being pulled, and his New Day partners Xavier Woods &amp; New Day expressed frustrations.\u00a0 Later on, in the broadcast, Corey Graves said that Kofi screwed Kofi (ya know, have to call back to Bret screwed Bret), and Byron Saxton acknowledged how Kevin headbutted Vince on TV not too long ago.<\/p>\n<p>Both Shane and Stephanie McMahon questioned how long Kevin knew about this.\u00a0 He said it didn\u2019t matter and expressed his desire to team with Kofi against Bryan and his sidekick Rowan later in the evening.\u00a0 He acknowledged Kofi deserved the title match as much as him.\u00a0 They said they would take his idea under advisement.<\/p>\n<p>Later on, they would have the match.\u00a0 Kevin and Kofi worked well together and would win the match when Kevin hit Bryan with a Stone-Cold Stunner.\u00a0 After the match Kofi and Kevin were talking, and while it was hard to understand what they may have been saying to one another it looked like Kevin was saying something along the lines of making things right.<\/p>\n<p>Last night on Raw, Becky Lynch\u2019s suspension was overturned, and she was put in a match at Fastlane against Charlotte Flair.\u00a0 If she wins, she gets added to the Raw Women\u2019s Championship match at WrestleMania between champion Ronda Rousey and Charlotte.\u00a0 Who knows tonight if another one of Vince\u2019s heavy-handed decisions gets changed.<\/p>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis:\u00a0 I don\u2019t like how this was done and not because Kofi Kingston was pulled from the match.\u00a0 It\u2019s the McMahons getting involved in the storyline and getting away from what got Kofi over that is incredibly frustrating.\u00a0 It also does Kevin Owens no favors especially if they want him to be a babyface.\u00a0 The story is certainly intriguing, which isn\u2019t necessarily a good thing, but one we need to see play out.\u00a0 It\u2019s different from any other story that has been told before.\u00a0 Ultimately you hope they go to Kofi vs. Bryan at WrestleMania as that is the match people want.\u00a0 I\u2019m fearful they go to a triple threat involving Kevin, which isn\u2019t the end of the world but still not what fans are looking for.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hardy Boyz are Back Together<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Last week there was a match scheduled between Johnny Gargano and Cesaro of the Bar.\u00a0 The Bar came out together and instead the Hardy Boyz music played, and out came both Matt and Jeff Hardy.<\/p>\n<p>It had been quite some time since we\u2019ve seen them together as a tag team.\u00a0 We all recall their surprising return at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 where they captured the Raw Tag Team Championship.\u00a0 Later on, in that year with Jeff on the injured list, Matt would revisit his \u201cBroken\u201d character from his time at Impact Wrestling and it would be rebranded \u201cWoken.\u201d\u00a0 He would feud with Bray Wyatt but eventually team with him and have a run as Raw Tag Team Champions.\u00a0 Their run ended around the summertime of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Jeff returned to Smackdown in the Superstar Shakeup last year.\u00a0 He had a run with the U.S. Championship and had feuds with Randy Orton and Samoa Joe.\u00a0 Last week, he and Matt reunited and defeated the Bar.\u00a0 Here they are in a <a href=\"http:\/\/wwe.com\/\">WWE.com<\/a> exclusive after the match:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Why have The Hardy Boyz reunited?: SmackDown Exclusive, Feb. 26, 2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/faoPdHymH5A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis:\u00a0 With the Usos expected to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Championship, a match between them and the Hardys would certainly be appealing for WrestleMania.\u00a0 It\u2019s a smart use of both men.\u00a0 They can share the workload and not take as many bumps and add much needed life to the tag team division on Smackdown.\u00a0 You can only have so many Usos vs. Bar, Bar vs. New Day, Usos vs. New Day matches.\u00a0 Since they haven\u2019t built up any other teams and considering your #1 contenders are Miz and Shane McMahon, putting the Hardys back together is certainly a wise choice. <\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Items to Anticipate Tonight:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>They will no doubt acknowledge the latest WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Torrie Wilson.\u00a0 If anyone can offer me a logical reason as to why she belongs in the Hall, my Twitter account and e-mail are listed below.\u00a0 I mean no disrespect to Torrie Wilson, who is likely a fine human being.\u00a0 She had FAR from a Hall of Fame career, nor did she offer anything significant to the product.\u00a0 They induct Chyna as part of DX but induct Torrie on her own.\u00a0 Next thing you know, Candice Michelle and Stacy Kiebler are going to get the call.<\/li>\n<li>Addressing what was next for Smackdown Women\u2019s Champion Asuka was advertised for the show last week, but WWE did not do anything on TV in this regard.\u00a0 There was a <a href=\"http:\/\/wwe.com\/\">WWE.com<\/a> exclusive the night of the show, in which Mandy Rose said she was challenging Asuka for the title at Fastlane.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the YouTube clip:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mandy Rose to challenge Asuka at WWE Fastlane: SmackDown Exclusive, Feb. 26, 2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-TA0Ah6igIc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>At a recent house show in White Plains, N.Y., Mandy appeared to have accidently injured Asuka in a match that ended up being ruled a no-contest.\u00a0 According to Asuka\u2019s Twitter account, she is fine:<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/WWEAsuka\/status\/1102961121638506496?s=20<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/WWEAsuka\/status\/1102961121638506496?s=20<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Look for WWE to address what took place on Raw last night involving the no-longer suspended Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, who is set to challenge Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania for the Raw Women\u2019s Championship.\u00a0 If Becky defeats Charlotte at Fastlane, she is added to the match and it becomes a triple threat.\u00a0 Bear in mind, Becky won the women\u2019s Royal Rumble but has been suspended by both Stephanie McMahon for not seeing a doctor and Vince McMahon for having a \u201cbad attitude.\u201d\u00a0 Last week, Charlotte cut a promo expecting to go to Raw and be handed the Raw Women\u2019s Championship.<\/li>\n<li>Look for more from Aleister Black and Ricochet.\u00a0 Last week they defeated Shinsuke Nakamura &amp; Rusev.\u00a0 Last night on Raw, they challenged Raw Tag Team Champions the Revival for the titles and won via DQ but not the titles when Bobby Roode &amp; Chad Gable interfered.<\/li>\n<li>Mustafa Ali returned at a recent house show.\u00a0 He\u2019s another candidate to answer the U.S. Championship open challenge even though it\u2019s babyface vs. babyface.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Start Time &amp; Matches Advertised on the Arena Website <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Spectrum Center\u2019s website is advertising a start time of 7:45 p.m. local time, but don\u2019t specify when doors will be opening.\u00a0 They advertise a \u201cdouble main event\u201d which doesn\u2019t seem likely to happen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A.J.
