The company makes desperate play after desperate play to make him your favourite graps guy – with limited success. How do they do it? What do they do?

I’m Tom Colohue and this is the Monday Night Reigns-o-Meter.

The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed a certain lack of Roman Reignsometer in your recent history. Allow me to explain.

Firstly, Roman Reigns really hasn’t done all that much recently. Naturally, this has been an immense disappointment to me and, I’m sure, all of you too. Everybody wants to see Roman right now, but he’s barely been featured. In the first of the last two weeks, Roman got beaten down by Drew McIntyre in the middle of an interview. That was it. Imagine having someone this famous, this powerful, this suave in only one segment all night.

Treachery.

Then came WrestleMania, after which there has to be a Reigns-o-Meter. It’s the start of the WWE season. Imagine if there wasn’t a Reigns-o-Meter. What a horrible person I am.

Roman Reigns did not main event WrestleMania for the first time in five years. He has main evented WrestleMania for so long that a whole Women’s Revolution went from 30 seconds on Raw and cut for time at ‘Mania all the way up to a triple threat main event on the show of shows. Roman Reigns main evented WrestleMania for longer that Steve Austin’s entire WWE main event run from his first championship win to his retirement against The Rock. This year, not so much.

Roman Reigns took on Drew McIntyre. Drew McIntyre who destroyed The Shield. He destroyed Dean Ambrose and he destroyed Seth Rollins.

The match took place after the broken, battered body of Seth Rollins had won the Universal Championship so I don’t think we can really call it destroyed, can we?

It was late in the night, well into the twilight zone of post Kofi WrestleMania. The crowd was tired. They were cranky. They wanted to see more Kofi. They didn’t boo; promise! They were just tired, that’s all.

Roman enters the arena to the sounds of business as usual. First, a rousing wave of hatred following by an extended awkward silence as all sound was sucked out of the building by a mysterious force of quietness. I expected the positivity to last a little bit longer, but here we are. Welcome back, Roman. I hope you enjoyed facehood while it lasted.

The match was… fine. Two men entered; two men left. There was a little grappling. There really wasn’t a lot of heat. As blood feuds go, it just wasn’t very bloody, you know?

And then, last night, I fell asleep. With my laptop on my lap, right there on my couch, having been essentially awake since 6 a.m. on Friday, I completely passed out. I’m still not entirely conscious, to be honest with you. I missed Smackdown – haven’t even seen it yet and I don’t remember seeing Roman on Raw.

So, start as you mean to go on right? I’m a couple days late, I’m practically sleepwalking, but I don’t care. Roman Reigns won at WrestleMania once again. He’s broken the curse of his constant eternal feud with Brock Lesnar. Onwards and upwards? We’ll see.

Odds Counter
– Drew McIntyre

Did Roman Reigns beat the odds?
Absolutely.

I literally slept on Roman.
