PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Commentary: Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana, Caprice Coleman

Opening theme.

-In the arena Dalton Castle and Jonathan Gresham were already in the ring with Jeff Cobb and Kenny King on the apron. The bell rang.

(1) DALTON CASTLE vs. “THE HAWAIIAN JUGGERNAUT” JEFF COBB vs. KENNY KING vs. “THE OCTOPUS” JONATHAN GRESHAM – FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL

Gresham tagged out to Cobb immediately. Castle tried to tag out to avoid Cobb but King laughed and jumped off the apron, refusing to get in there himself. Dropkick from Cobb. Tags to Gresham and King. The heels worked together to isolate Gresham. [C]

Castle and King continued to work together, tagging in and out over Gresham. King’s and Castle’s egos eventually got too big and they began to bicker. Gresham silently creeped over and tagged Cobb while they were distracted. Cobb went to town on both heels. Spinning side slam to King. Things broke down. King hit a blockbuster on Gresham. He went for another on Cobb but Cobb caught him in midair and turned it into a vertical suplex. Spinebuster from King to Cobb. Blue thunder to Gresham. King went to the timekeeper’s table and Amy Rose handed him one of her high heels. King swung and missed. The worst referee, Todd Sinclair, was too busy watching Castle and Cobb at ringside for no good reason. Gresham grabbed the shoe and hit King with it, pinning him.

WINNER: Jonathan Gresham in 11:34.

-King blamed Rose and they walked off to the back together, bickering.

(Pageot’s Perspective: Cobb looked great, as usual. This is the last we’ll see of him in ROH until NJPW’s G1 Climax is over. The King-Rose pairing is further, though losing this early into that new gimmick seems questionable. If he’s already losing matches with her in his pocket, then why continue? You’d think he’d want to dump her now and try something else. Gresham continues to cheat to win. Is this the beginning of a full heel turn or just a Marty Scurll “Dennis The Menace” style level of shenanigans?)

-Quinn McKay was backstage with Shinobi Shadow Squad. They’ll be challenging for the six-man titles at some point in the near future. They talked about chasing the belts for months and said they’ll leave Villain Enterprises bankrupt. [C}

-Video package on Sumie Sakai becoming the first Women Of Honor World Champion at Supercard Of Honor on April 7, 2018. They transitioned into Kagetsu breaking Sakai’s orbital bone off a botched Oedo Coaster at G1 Supercard on April 6 of this year. Sakai returns to action for the first time in over three months next week.

-Video package on the Briscoes-Guerrillas Of Destiny tag title match from War Of The Worlds: Chicago on May 12. The teams faced off in a street fight rematch last night at Manhattan Mayhem.

-Another video package of highlights from last week’s TV including Tasha Steelz pinning Stella Ortiz in a four-way last week to become #1 contender to the WOH World Championship, Maria Manic beating people up, and Kenny King insulting Rhett Titus in front of his wife.

-Yet another video package on Soldiers Of Savagery debuting on May 12 TV by attacking Lifeblood. They attacked Lifeblood again at Best In The World and were finally making their TV in-ring debut here. They attacked their enhancement talent before the bell.

(2) SOLDIERS OF SAVAGERY (Moses & Kaun) vs. PRIMAL FEAR (Matthew Omen & Manny Soriano)

Double chokeslam to one of the jobbers. [C]

(Pageot’s Perspective: Big deal. They hit two moves on two jobbers. This didn’t tell us anything about them. It’s also strange that Lifeblood have been so preoccupied with Villain Enterprises lately and haven’t addressed S.O.S. at all since their three attacks on them in May and June. It really makes S.O.S. feel unimportant that Lifeblood just don’t care and are instead focusing all their attention on Flip Gordon turning them down to join Villain Enterprises instead.)

-Jonathan Gresham was walking through the parking lot as Jay Lethal chased after him. Lethal said he just wanted to talk. He questioned Gresham about cheating to beat Silas Young at Best In The World and again tonight. “Who are you, my dad?” Gresham asked. Lethal asked him to just talk to him. Gresham said nobody in ROH cares about honor anymore. They cheat and lie. So he’ll beat them at his own game. He said Lethal couldn’t beat King but he did. Think about that.

-Video package on Flip Gordon betraying Lifeblood to join Villain Enterprises at Best In The World.

Lifeblood entered first for the main event. Haskins was incensed about the pay-per-view development and called out VE. Gordon came out with VE but Scurll sent him to the back (presumably because Gordon got injured hitting a 450 splash through a table the night before). Scurll said the titles wouldn’t be on the line. Williams said he didn’t care because it was about vengeance, not gold, and suggested they make it a street fight. The teams brawled. [C]

(3) ROH WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS VILLAIN ENTERPRISES (Marty Scurll, PCO, & Brody King w/Flip Gordon) vs. LIFEBLOOD (Mark Haskins, Tracy Williams, & Bandido) – NON-TITLE STREET FIGHT

All six men fought around the ringside area. Scurll hit Haskins with a chair as he ran the ropes. Williams hit Scurll with a kendo stick, then King. PCO gave steel chairs to Bandido and Williams and asked them to hit him. He no-sold, then clotheslined them both. Haskins held a chair on his chest for some reason so that King could hit a back senton onto it. [C]

Six chairs were set up in the ring with their seats facing each other. Williams cleared house with the kendo stick. He and Bandido powerbombed King onto the seats of the chairs. King kicked out. Scurll with some kendo shots. Bandido with a Frankensteiner to PCO off the top turnbuckle and through a table at ringside. Sharpshooter to Scurll from Haskins. King broke it up. King and PCO with flips over the ropes onto Lifeblood. Bandido with a corkscrew plancha onto the other five men. [C]

Bandido dropkicked a chair into PCO’s face. Go To Sleep. 21plex into an opened chair. King broke up the pin. Haskins and Williams with dueling kendo shots to King. Scurll with umbrella shots to the Lifeblood trio. Scurll cracked Bandido’s fingers. Bandido with an eyepoke. Moonsault fallaway slam to Scurll off the top rope and through a table.

WINNERS: Lifeblood in 18:13.

(Pageot’s Perspective: For a company built on honor ROH has had a hell of a lot of street fights, ladder matches, and other gimmick brawls this year. They really all blur together after a while, especially when it’s the same three or four weapons each time. At least the finish was unique. I know Gordon was/is injured but there was a weird conceit to this match in that what did King or PCO really do to warrant this vitriol from Lifeblood? Gordon’s the one who betrayed them and he should be the one they want to put through a table and beat with a chair.)

-ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes were in a barn with another man seated on a tractor. Jay said it’s a story as old as time: two American brothers fighting against two Mexican brothers. Mark dropped random Spanish words. They dubbed them the crazy white boys.

A video package played featuring highlights of in-ring action from the Briscoes, Rush, and Dragon Lee ahead of their tag match next week.

-Next week: it’s The Briscoes vs. Rush & Dragon Lee in a non-title match and Sumie Sakai vs. Karissa Rivera.

THANK YOU FOR VISITING

ROH TV REPORT JULY 21, 2019 PHILADELPHIA, PA AT 2300 ARENA AIRED ON ROHWRESTLING.COM REPORT BY HARLEY R.
