Styles for the United States Championship, but A.J. didn’t come alone to the ring, which was an immediate red flag for interference. Indeed that’s what happened as Gallows and Anderson interfered about three minutes into the match allowing Styles to retain by disqualification. Strowman was subject to a three on one beat down before Rollins came out to help, much like Braun did for him last week. After clearing the ring Rollins and Strowman shook hands, but Braun held it for an uncomfortably long time. Backstage, Rollins found Strowman and said he knows where this whole thing is going between them and if it was up to him, Strowman would be the next Universal Championship contender, but they need to deal with The OC first. He suggested they team together for a Raw Tag Team Title match tonight, Braun grunted in agreement and the match was made. Later, the two were trying to talk strategy, but Braun kept focusing on Seth’s championship belt instead. Seth said they need to focus because they could be the tag champs at the end of the night. Rollins told Strowman to just follow his lead. Braun stood up, told Seth he was focused and that Seth needs to follow his lead. If he does, Braun promises they’ll be tag champs at the end of the night. So, in the match Seth and Braun worked well together and eventually did pick up the win in a very competitive match to end Monday Night Raw.

The New Day and The Revival takes a dark turn following a quick disqualification finish to their match. Randy Orton hit Big E with the RKO to cause the disqualification. Kofi ran out from the back in response, but was beaten down by all three heels. Xavier Woods attempted to help, but he was attacked and hit with the RKO as well. Randy then dragged Kofi into position and held him up by his hair to watch as Xavier Woods had his leg injured by Scott Dawson who jumped off the top rope stomping directly on Woods’ knee.

Smackdown Live

Shane McMahon was seen backstage awkwardly rubbing his sleeve in an effort to clean the television monitor in his office, when Kevin Owens walked in. Owens said he thought about the $100,000 fine all week. He reiterated that money like that is his kids’ future and asked Shane to reconsider “father to father” and Shane said he would take it into consideration. Later, Shane summoned Owens back to his office to discuss the initial reason he asked him to his office earlier in the night. Shane said he still hadn’t apologized for putting his hands on a WWE official. Owens responded “that’s fair” and apologized. Shane reiterated he is still considering Owens’ fine and said if Owens ever intentionally puts his hands on a WWE official, he would be immediately terminated and Owens agreed. KO offered Shane a handshake and Shane responded by saying “I’m not quite there yet” and Owens left. In the main event of Smackdown, Owens took on Elias in the King of the Ring tournament. After a few minutes of action, Shane McMahon’s music hit and he walked to the ring as Owens looked concerned. After throwing Elias into the ringside steps, Owens went to throw him back in the ring when Shane stood up and told him to get his hands of Elias before revealing an Official’s shirt of his own. Shane then rolled into the ring when Owens did and took over officiating the match. After a minute or two more, Elias caught Owens with a roll-up and Shane counted the quickest three count ever for Elias to pick up the victory.

Roman Reigns finally found out who his “real attacker” was on Smackdown. Daniel Bryan and Rowan were shown walking with a man under a hood into a locker room. They threatened him to keep him in the locker room until it was time for the reveal. Roman Reigns was shown approaching Buddy Murphy and asked him to talk to him man to man and he wants to know if he was lying to him or to Bryan and Rowan. Murphy responded saying he was only trying to help Roman and he’s “pretty sure” he saw Rowan the night the scaffolding almost fell on Roman. Roman said he hopes Murphy is trying to help him because if he finds out he was lying he’s coming to whoop his ass. Then, in the final minute of Smackdown, Bryan and Rowan had found Roman and brought him into the room where they were keeping their hooded man. Bryan then removed the mask to reveal a bald man with a long orange beard like Rowan and Reigns looked on in a confusion (from either believing Bryan or thinking he’s full of crap, I’m not sure) as Smackdown went off the air.

•Listen to the latest Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Post-Show – Smackdown Post-Show

PWTorch editor Wade Keller is joined by Rich Fann from the PWTorch Dailycasts “Deep Dive” podcast and the PWTorch VIP East Coast Cast to review Smackdown with live callers and answer email questions. I know that’s not what Stone Cold would’ve done, but Owens isn’t Stone Cold! I thought it was a logical thing for him to do given the fact that it was a hefty fine and he had a King of the Ring match on Tuesday, and he had openly talked about how much winning would mean to him. I viewed his apology as an attempt to stop Shane from interfering and screwing him over more than I saw it as Kevin going to him with his tail between his legs. I can understand why people didn’t like it, but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone view it the way I did, and that was a little surprising to me. I just thought he was being a smart babyface attempting to stop Shane from screwing him over because he knows it would be coming. By kissing up to Shane, it would be Owens’ attempt to stop any idea of screwing him in the match because it could convince the egotistical Shane McMahon that he broke Owens and won.
