PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Hosts: Ian Riccaboni, Quinn McKay

Opening theme.

-We opened with highlights of Villain Enterprises vs. Lifeblood in a traditional tag match from Saturday Night At Center Stage on August 24. Brody King pinned Tracy Williams following a chair shot from Flip Gordon and a Gonzo Bomb.

-Riccaboni and McKay checked in. They recapped footage of Vincent Marseglia putting out a lit cigar on the chest of Beer City Bruiser at Manhattan Mayhem on July 20.

-In a rare example of a TV match that hadn’t already aired elsewhere they were facing off in singles competition. Marseglia dropkicked Bruiser off the apron before the match. Referee Todd Sinclair called for the bell. Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman were on commentary.

(1) BEER CITY BRUISER vs. VINCENT MARSEGLIA

Suicide dive from Marseglia. They threw hands at ringside. Marseglia avoided a cannonball off the apron. Bruiser chokeslammed him onto the apron. Bruiser went up into the stands and hit a crossbody from a couple rows up, taking out three security guards but not Marseglia. [C]

Vader Bomb avoided by Marseglia. Running forearms. Redrum senton connected. Bruiser bit Marseglia’s hand. DDT. Marseglia ran Bruiser into an exposed turnbuckle and hit sliced bread.

WINNER: Vincent Marseglia in 7:28.

(Pageot’s Perspective: The Bouncers have had possibly the most consistent TV time of anyone in ROH this year and this feud in particular has had a lot of attention lately. If you need help keeping track of the full history of the Bouncers-Kingdom feud heading into their barroom brawl at Death Before Dishonor read my preview column this Friday right here at the PWTorch.)

-A video package recapped the eight entrants in the ROH World Championship #1 contender tournament. Mark Haskins, Colt Cabana, Kenny King, Bandido, Dalton Castle, Marty Scurll, PCO, and Jay Lethal will compete for the opportunity to challenge for the world title in the main event of Final Battle on December 13. [C]

-The cameras found Brawler Milonas laid out backstage while TK O’Ryan stood over him with a baseball bat and a bad beard. Future Of Honor wrestlers looked on. “What do you think of that, fat boy?!” he asked.

-Footage aired from Honor For All on August 25. The Allure (Angelina Love & Mandy Leon) were in the ring ahead of a four-way match between Love, Sumie Sakai, Jenny Rose, and Damaris Dawkins. WOH World Champion Kelly Klein was on commentary. Love whined about not being given a title match. Sakai slept through the promo, leaning on the bottom turnbuckle. The Allure tried to leave but were brought back by the babyfaces. Leon sprayed Sakai with hairspray and Love hit a Botox Injection on Dawkins for the pin.

-In first-run footage McKay caught up with The Allure backstage after the match. McKay accused Love of stealing the pin. They denied using hairspray and mean girled her.

-A Joe Hendry shopping network parody video aired. He hyped his ROH t-shirt and took some digs at his “tag team partner” Dalton Castle. He unveiled a poorly-designed new shirt for Castle. Hendry again declared himself a future world champion. [C]

-At Summer Supercard on August 9 ROH World Champion Matt Taven listed off all the people he’s beaten since winning the title. Rush interrupted and they had a stare-down.

-Our TV main event was the tag team #1 contenders match from Honor For All on August 25. My original report was as follows. [C]

(2) ROH WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS VILLAIN ENTERPRISES (Marty Scurll & Brody King) vs. LIFEBLOOD (Mark Haskins & Bandido) – #1 CONTENDERS TO THE ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Scurll refused to shake Bandido’s hand, despite doing so last night. King started instead. Scurll cracked Haskins’ fingers at 6:50. He took half an hour calling for the chicken-wing so Haskins of course avoided it. Falcon arrow from Haskins. Frog-splash from Bandido. Everything broke down at 11:00. King to the floor. Double-stomp from Haskins to Scurll for two. Chicken-wing to Haskins. Death valley driver to Scurll. King back in. Bandido saved Haskins from a gonzo bomb. King clotheslined back to the floor. 21plex to Scurll. Sharpshooter from Haskins. Suicide dive from Bandido to King. Scurll tapped.

WINNERS: Lifeblood in 14:10.

(Pageot’s Perspective: I tuned out a little because we’ve seen VE vs. Lifeblood so many times in the past month. This was more of the same. I’m surprised we didn’t see Flip Gordon or Tracy Williams involved in any way. I guess the tag title shot at Death Before Dishonor is a consolation prize to Lifeblood who have twice been scheduled for a match for the six-man titles only to have both cancelled at the last minute due to injuries to King and now PCO. I assumed Rush & Dragon Lee beating The Briscoes on July 28 TV was setting them up for a shot at the belts but there’s no suggestion since that we’ll see that rematch any time soon.)

-The show closed with a silent run-down of Friday’s pay-per-view card.

-Rush was backstage for a go-home promo. He said he’d be the next champion. Nothing happens unless he says so.

-Next week: it’s Matt Taven vs. Jay Lethal vs. Jeff Cobb vs. Kenny King in Defy Or Deny from Honor For All.

THANK YOU FOR VISITING

ROH TV REPORT SEPTEMBER 22, 2019 NASHVILLE, TN AT NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS AIRED ON ROHWRESTLING.COM REPORT BY HARLEY R.
