PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR<\/h3>\n<p><em>Commentary: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We opened in the arena with Colt Cabana&#8217;s music.\u00a0 Our host strolled out in a blazer over an ROH shirt and slacks.\u00a0 He promised eight crazy matches with him booking the show.\u00a0 The wrestling will be great, but weird.\u00a0 He had a podium on the stage and introduced \u201cThe Prestigious One\u201d Joe Hendry as a guest commentator for the opening contest.\u00a0 Cabana said each match needed to be a little zany.\u00a0 Hendry said he would be providing singing commentary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) CMLL WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION \u00daLTIMO GUERRERO vs. \u201cTHE OCTOPUS\u201d JONATHAN GRESHAM \u2013 NON-TITLE MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hendry sang rhyming verses throughout as a sort of Greek chorus.\u00a0 Riccaboni provided his usual reliable commentary.\u00a0 Guerrero took Gresham around the world with a series of surfboards.\u00a0 They traded chops.\u00a0 Gresham took his wrist tape off and tossed it aside.\u00a0 As the referee threw it out Gresham chopped Guerrero below the belt.\u00a0 The fans booed.\u00a0 Cabana got on the house mic and told the referee Gresham low blowed him.\u00a0 Gresham yelled at Cabana as the referee was befuddled.\u00a0 Guerrero dropkicked Gresham off the apron.\u00a0 &#8220;Lucha libre&#8221; chant from the crowd.\u00a0 Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.\u00a0 They traded pin attempts at 11:00.\u00a0 Guerrero Special for the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: \u00daltimo Guerrero in 12:04.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Pageot\u2019s Perspective:\u00a0 Hendry&#8217;s ability to continuously come up with rhyming couplets about the action on the fly was pretty impressive, though it was the same melody each time and you could tell even he was starting to get tired of the gimmick as the length of the match went on.\u00a0 The match was good and the live crowd is very into the action so far.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Up next it was Delirious and a mini version of Delirious taking on the mysterious masked newcomers J\u00e9fe Cobbo &amp; El Villainisto in a lucha de apuesta.\u00a0 The individual who was pinned or submitted would be forced to unmask.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(2) EL VILLAINISTO &amp; J\u00c9FE COBBO vs. DELIRIOUS &amp; MINI DELIRIOUS \u2013 MASK VS. MASK<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3697356543\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Mini Delirious had a similar size and physique to Hornswoggle, but I don&#8217;t want to profile.\u00a0 Cobbo wore similar gear to Jeff Cobb with a mask not a far cry from <em>Lucha Underground<\/em>&#8216;s Matanza Cueto.\u00a0 El Villainisto carried an umbrella for some reason.\u00a0 Riccaboni pointed out that he was wearing Matt Classic&#8217;s mask.<\/p>\n<p>The bell rang, waking Delirious.\u00a0 He ran laps around the ring in a frenzy until Mini Delirious rang the bell again to calm him down.\u00a0 Cobbo and Mini Delirious had a hoss showdown.\u00a0 Villainisto took a cheap shot from behind.\u00a0 The Deliriouses went under the ring at 7:30.\u00a0 Their opponents went looking for them and were nearly counted out.\u00a0 When they returned they were both wearing Delirious masks too and all four argued in gibberish.\u00a0 Delirious polled the crowd on who was his partner because he couldn&#8217;t tell them apart.\u00a0 The crowd said it was Villainisto, who cracked his fingers.\u00a0 He did the same to Mini.\u00a0 Cobbo consoled them.\u00a0 Villainisto pulled off his Delirious mask to reveal his original mask.\u00a0 The Deliriouses bit their opponents.\u00a0 Mini tried to unmask Villainisto.\u00a0 He escaped and called for a chicken-wing but Mini hit him with a German suplex.\u00a0 A second to Cobbo.\u00a0 Superkick from Villainisto to Mini but he kicked out at two.\u00a0 Villainisto held Mini for a clothesline from Cobbo but Cobbo&#8217;s arm went right over him and took out his partner by mistake.\u00a0 Hot tag to Delirious.\u00a0 Cobbo prevented a Doomsday Device on el villainisto.\u00a0 Standing moonsault from Cobbo to Mini for the pin.<\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: Cobbo &amp; Villainisto in 13:29.<\/p>\n<p>-Mini Delirious was forced to unmask.\u00a0 Coleman joked it was AJ Styles.\u00a0 No, it was&#8230; Swoggle!<\/p>\n<p><em>(Pageot\u2019s Perspective:\u00a0 The identities of Cobbo and El Villainisto will remain a mystery.\u00a0 Lots of fun in this one.\u00a0 A bit longer than you would have expected but when the promotion&#8217;s head booker is one of the wrestlers it&#8217;s bound to happen.\u00a0 Marty Scurll&#8217;s ROH contract supposedly runs out at the end of this month and ROH has no more events scheduled for November.\u00a0 If this ends up being his final ROH appearance that is hilarious on so many levels.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t imagine it can end like this, though.\u00a0 Maybe they ponied up a small fortune to get him to stick around for one more at<\/em>\u00a0Final Battle<em>?)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Rhett Titus joined commentary for a hamburger-themed six-man tag.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(3) CHEESEBURGER &amp; THE BOUNCERS (Beer City Bruiser &amp; Brawler Milonas) vs. DALTON CASTLE, FLIP GORDON, &amp; KENNY KING (w\/Amy Rose)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bruiser was dubbed as Double Cheeseburger and Milonas as Triple Cheeseburger. Their opponents were chosen because Dalton Castle = White Castle, Kenny King = Burger King, and Flip Gordon = you flip a burger.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1751247869\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Castle and Bruiser started.\u00a0 Bruiser gummed everyone early.\u00a0 Milonas collapsed onto Castle at one point, flattening him.\u00a0 Everyone else tried to lift him off but failed until Bruiser hulked up like Popeye with the aid of a can of beer.\u00a0 Gordon got squashed between The Bouncers.\u00a0 The heels triple-teamed Burger behind the referee&#8217;s back.\u00a0 Hot tag to Milonas.\u00a0 Burger set up Gordon in piledriver position and The Bouncers flipped the burger&#8230; into a Canadian Destroyer!\u00a0 Gordon grabbed the bottom rope to break the three count.\u00a0 The teams fought onto the stage at 15:30.\u00a0 Gordon teased a flip off the stage (the same way he injured himself last year) but gave the fans double fingers instead and left.\u00a0 Bruiser hit a crossbody off the stage onto everyone else.\u00a0 Shotei from Burger to Castle in the ring.\u00a0 King rolled up Burger from behind.<\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: King, Castle, &amp; Gordon in 16:55.<\/p>\n<p>-King stole The Bouncers&#8217; cool and looked to take off with the booze.\u00a0 Titus cut him off and grabbed the cooler.\u00a0 King and Rose ran away and Titus joined Castle and the babyface trio for the toast of honor.\u00a0 There were burgers in the cooler as well!\u00a0 They shared a burger toast and a drink.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Pageot\u2019s Perspective:\u00a0 Another one far longer than it probably should have been but mostly fun with lots of colorful personalities.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve said it all year long but the talent in ROH is 0% of the problems facing ROH right now.\u00a0 Great wrestlers, strong personalities (when given the platform to show them), and lots of diversity.\u00a0 It&#8217;s entirely the booking and structuring of weekly TV\/Honor Club events that undercuts everything and makes it all feel so ephemeral.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) THE ALLURE (Angelina Love &amp; Mandy Leon) vs. SUMIE SAKAI &amp; JENNY ROSE \u2013 NO DISQUALIFICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The babyfaces met The Allure in the aisle and went to work.\u00a0 Leon choked Rose with a chain early on.\u00a0 Sakai brought out a Daryl plush cat in support of the return of Hiromu Takahashi to NJPW last night!\u00a0 Daryl took out Leon and Love.\u00a0 Sakai bowed to him.\u00a0 Rose suplexed Leon on the stage.\u00a0 Sakai went for a top rope moonsault onto Love on a steel chair but Love moved and Sakai crashed onto the chair.\u00a0 Rose speared Leon on the stage.\u00a0 Sakai and Love fought over the chair.\u00a0 Sakai let go and the chair hit Love in the gut.\u00a0 Botox Injection to Daryl and Sakai.<\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: The Allure in 5:42.<\/p>\n<p>-Love took a mic.\u00a0 Maria Manic&#8217;s music hit.\u00a0 She entered the ring and stared down Love.\u00a0 &#8220;At <em>Final Battle<\/em> you&#8217;re dead, bitch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>(Pageot\u2019s Perspective: Watch ROH strip Kelly Klein of the Women Of Honor World Championship for siding with Joey Mercury and calling out their lack of proper medical support and make that match for the vacant WOH title.\u00a0 This one was starting to get good and then it was over.\u00a0 Hey, for how little these women get paid ($24,000 per year each apparently) who can blame them for not wanting to be out there longer than six minutes?)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>(5) ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPION MARK BRISCOE vs. JOSH \u201cTHE GOODS\u201d WOODS \u2013 SHOTS FIRED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jay Briscoe and Silas Young were on commentary over the house mics in place of Riccaboni and Coleman.\u00a0 They had shots of alcohol ready for them. Every time Woods kicked out of a pin attempt Young would have to take a shot and the same went for the Briscoe brothers.<\/p>\n<p>Woods slammed Mark into the guardrail at 4:30.\u00a0 Their partners took shots periodically throughout the match off pin attempts but they were barely talking as is so it&#8217;s not like it affected their speech in any notable way.\u00a0 Young got in the ref&#8217;s face at 7:30 for a two-count.\u00a0 Jay got in Young&#8217;s face.\u00a0 Mark and Woods held them back.\u00a0 Young and Jay pretended to be drunk, stumbling and falling out of the ring.\u00a0 Froggy-bow from Mark for the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: Mark Briscoe in 8:22.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Pageot\u2019s Perspective:\u00a0 Fun idea, terrible execution.\u00a0 Young and Briscoe had to pour their own drinks and keep track of the near-falls themselves.\u00a0 They should have had a table full of shots in front of them with the time-keeper pointing to the respective man every time he was supposed to drink.\u00a0 The way this played out made the action in the ring very stilted.\u00a0 Also Young and Jay weren&#8217;t even really doing commentary.\u00a0 It was more just the two of them shouting the same things they normally would if they were at ringside, only over the mic instead.\u00a0 Then the two men pretending to be falling down drunk when they were clearly sober was.. embarrassing.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Our next match would apparently be the tag match that Riccaboni said last night would be our main event tonight.\u00a0 (Does this mean PCO vs. Dan Maff is headlining?\u00a0 No indication yet on what the new match #8 is either after Brody King and Jay Lethal&#8217;s injuries resulted in a shake-up and Shane Taylor&#8217;s tag match being pulled from the card.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>(6) ROH WORLD CHAMPION RUSH &amp; DRAGON LEE vs. LIFEBLOOD (Mark Haskins &amp; Tracy Williams) \u2013 LUCHA RULES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bull&#8217;s Horns from Rush to Williams for the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: Rush &amp; Lee in 15:53.<\/p>\n<p>-Cabana joined ring announcer Bobby Cruise in the ring.\u00a0 He led a mini interview with Cruise before being interrupted by Shane Taylor&#8217;s music.\u00a0 Soldiers Of Savagery were part of his entourage.\u00a0 Taylor complained about the card being changed in his home state.\u00a0 Taylor said Cabana&#8217;s kind of a fighter and suggested they have a match.\u00a0 Cabana pointed out that Taylor had his crew and suggested they make it four on four.\u00a0 Cabana was so cocky about beating Taylor that he felt he could team with anyone and still win.<\/p>\n<p>Cabana&#8217;s first partner was ROH senior cameraman Gator.\u00a0 He called down Riccaboni to team with them.\u00a0 The fourth man was producer Gary Juster. Gator and Juster had their own tron videos and Juster even got pyro.\u00a0 Taylor&#8217;s fourth man was the CEO of Shane Taylor Promotions, Ron Hunt.<\/p>\n<p>Bobby Cruise did full introductions for the match, then &#8220;Number One&#8221; Brian Johnson&#8217;s music hit.\u00a0 He complained about no one doing anything for him.\u00a0 He insulted the local crowd and said he didn&#8217;t care which team he was on.\u00a0 Cabana said Johnson could team with Taylor and he&#8217;d take referee Todd Sinclair to make it a ten-man tag.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Dibraskie (sp?) came out to join Coleman on commentary.\u00a0 A second referee replaced Sinclair as the official.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(7) ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION SHANE TAYLOR, \u201cNUMBER ONE\u201d BRIAN JOHNSON, RON HUNT, &amp; SOLDIERS OF SAVAGERY (Moses &amp; Kaun) vs. COLT \u201cBOOM BOOM\u201d CABANA, TODD SINCLAIR, GARY JUSTER, IAN RICCABONI, &amp; GATOR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Johnson insisted on starting against Cabana.\u00a0 Taylor and crew took off.\u00a0 With Johnson left all alone Sinclair asked for the tag.\u00a0 Collar and elbow tie-up.\u00a0 Johnson with a side headlock.\u00a0 Sinclair backed him into the ropes.\u00a0 Cabana took a cheap shot to free him.\u00a0 Johnson came off the ropes and Sinclair leapfrogged him to a huge pop.\u00a0 Cabana tagged back in and took hold of Johnson.\u00a0 Juster delivered a chop.\u00a0 Riccaboni made the tag and hit a top rope elbow drop.\u00a0 He tagged right back out.\u00a0 Cabana covered for the win.<\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: Team Cabana in 4:26.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Pageot\u2019s Perspective:\u00a0 They took a long time getting there and I thought this was dead in the water as we slowly assembled the teams.\u00a0 I&#8217;d be lying if I didn&#8217;t admit the crowd loved the actual match, though.\u00a0 Sinclair&#8217;s leapfrog and Riccaboni&#8217;s elbow got huge reactions and it was hard not to smile at the nonsense.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-Brian Zane joined Riccaboni and Coleman on commentary for the main event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(8) ROH WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPION PCO vs. DAN MAFF \u2013 UNSANCTIONED MATCH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Suicide dive from Maff 47 seconds into the match.\u00a0 PCO no-sold it.\u00a0 The commentators played up the men being mirror images of each other.\u00a0 They went under the ring and found some cinder blocks.\u00a0 Burning hammer from Maff at ringside.\u00a0 PCO speared Maff through a table.\u00a0 PCO took a while bringing another table into the ring.\u00a0 Maff played possum and speared PCO through a table.\u00a0 Death valley driver through a second table.\u00a0 PCO kicked out.\u00a0 Standing Canadian Destroyer to Maff onto a pile of chairs.\u00a0 PCO looked for his cannonball off the top rope to Maff on the apron but Maff moved like usual and PCO crashed like usual.\u00a0 Maff stacked the cinder blocks in the ring.\u00a0 PCO returned.\u00a0 Maff got a bag of thumbtacks and dumped them.\u00a0 PCO took off his jacket in preparation.\u00a0 Maff chokeslammed onto the tacks.\u00a0 PCO backdropped onto them.\u00a0 Maff filled PCO&#8217;s mouth with thumbtacks and superkicked him.\u00a0 Maff tried to bite out of a chokeslam.\u00a0 PCO grabbed him by the crotch and threw him off the top rope and onto the cinder blocks.\u00a0 Maff kicked out.\u00a0 PCOsault attempted but Maff crotched him on the top rope.\u00a0 Running burning hammer to PCO onto the cinder blocks.\u00a0 PCO kicked out.\u00a0 Yes, of a burning hammer onto a pile of cinder blocks.\u00a0 Steel chair shot to the back of PCO.\u00a0 Two more.\u00a0 Two cinder block shots from PCO to Maff.\u00a0 Chokeslam.\u00a0 PCOsault.<\/p>\n<p>WINNER: PCO in 17:52.<\/p>\n<p>-Marty Scurll hit the ring.\u00a0 He put over PCO&#8217;s career and the story that PCO could finally become a world champion at\u00a0<em>Final Battle\u00a0<\/em>for the first time in his 30 year-career.\u00a0 Scurll said nobody deserves it more because he&#8217;s not human.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Pageot\u2019s Perspective:\u00a0 I don&#8217;t care if it&#8217;s PCO, Rush, or Bray Wyatt in a mask.\u00a0 The gimmick of &#8220;dude who no-sells everything&#8221; does nothing for me.\u00a0 It just erases all internal logic from the matches and always comes across as completely arbitrary as to which moves actually hurt them.\u00a0 A burning hammer onto cinder blocks doesn&#8217;t affect him but a spear through a table does?\u00a0 There&#8217;s zero consistency.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There are no more events between now and <\/em>Final Battle<em> on December 13, what is usually ROH&#8217;s biggest show of the year. Yes, there are five weeks of television but nothing significant ever happens on TV anymore.\u00a0 So far the only official matches are Rush vs. PCO for the world title, The Briscoes vs. Lethal &amp; Gresham for the tag titles, and Manic vs. Love. Let&#8217;s also go with Matt Taven vs. Vincent Marseglia in some variation of a street fight, Shane Taylor vs. Dragon Lee for the TV title, Villain Enterprises vs. Lifeblood, Dalton Castle vs. Joe Hendry, Kenny King vs. Rhett Titus, and The Bouncers vs. Young Woods. What about Jeff Cobb?
