Black, Bricoes vs. Two Guys One Tag"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pwtor-3770913961\" class=\"pwtor-before-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><hr \/><b>SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)... <\/b>\r\n\r\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/widget.spreaker.com\/player?show_id=3076978&theme=light&playlist=false&playlist-continuous=false&autoplay=false&live-autoplay=false&chapters-image=true&episode_image_position=right&hide-logo=false&hide-likes=false&hide-comments=false&hide-sharing=false&hide-download=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"140px\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\r\n<hr \/><\/div><h3>ROH TV REPORT (ep. 435)<br \/>\nJANUARY 17, 2020<br \/>\nAIRED ON SINCLAIR SYNDICATED TV &amp; ROHWRESTLING.COM<br \/>\nREPORT BY RYAN SULLIVAN, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR<\/h3>\n<p><em>Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Quinn McKay<\/em><\/p>\n<p>-The opening theme aired.<\/p>\n<p>-They opened with a video package of The Briscoes verses Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham from Final Battle.<\/p>\n<p>-Ian and Quinn appear on-screen, with Ian mentioning this is a special tag-team edition of Ring of Honor Television. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>-They go right to the ring for the opening contest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) THE BOUNCERS (Brawler Milonas &amp; Beer City Bruiser) vs. DALTON CASTLE &amp; JOE HENDRY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On their way from the bar, The Bouncers cut a pre-taped promo shown on the split-screen, discussing being unified as a team and 2020 will be their year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Both Castle and Hendry get their full ring introductions, with Castle getting a surprisingly tepid crowd reaction.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Code of Honor was adhered to by all parties. (c)<\/p>\n<p>The match begins with Castle trying to outmuscle Bruiser, to no avail.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Bruiser does the \u201cI can\u2019t bite, I ain\u2019t got no teeth\u201d gimmick, and Castle soon responding with his signature peacock pose.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The match was relatively slow at first, with The Bouncers controlling much of the offense, before Hendry hit an incredible fall-away slam on Bruiser mid-match. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3503571461\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>The announcers made a point several times during the contest to mention Castle and Hendry were not on the \u201csame page\u201d as partners.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The finish saw Brawler push Castle onto Hendry from the top rope, rendering Castle useless on the outside, and Milonas hit \u201cLast Call\u201d on Hendry for the 1-2-3! (c)<\/p>\n<p>WINNERS: The Bouncers at 7:58<\/p>\n<p><i>(Ryan\u2019s Reaction: This match was pretty good, as all four men worked hard.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Bouncers get a quality victory, while the company continues to tease the eventual breakup and feud between Castle and Hendry.)<\/i><\/p>\n<p>-We return from commercial with Ian and Quinn on-screen, pitching the new merchandise available from the ROH Pro Shop. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>-Quinn then shifts the conversation to talking about Brian Johnson and P.J. Black\u2019s relationship, along with the similarities and differences to Josh Woods and Silas Young.<\/p>\n<p><b>(2) MASTER &amp; MACHINE (Griff Garrison &amp; Marcus Kross) vs. BRIAN JOHNSON &amp; P.J. BLACK<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Johnson tries to start the match, but Black quickly slaps his back to tag himself in; seconds later, Johnson does the same move back to Black. (c)<\/p>\n<p>Back to \u201clive\u201d action, Black is dominating the action, and Johnson and he are showing some natural chemistry as a team.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Johnson twice tries to use the ropes to gain an advantage, but both times Black kicks his legs to negate the cheating.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Garrison got the hot tag about three minutes in, and displayed some impressive strength and athleticism for a bigger man.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The finish saw Black hit a suplex on Garrison and give a nasty superkick to Kross, then the legal man Johnson hitting a fist-drop for the pin.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3645906292\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>WINNERS: Brian Johnson and P.J. Black at 3:48<\/p>\n<p>-Post-match, Johnson celebrated like he had just won the World Championship at Final Battle, while Black looked at him like a dopey younger brother type.<\/p>\n<p><i>(Ryan\u2019s Reaction: This match did a nice job furthering the Johnson and Black mentorship, but I would have liked to see Master and Machine see more offense in the contest.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I think Garrison and Kross have more long-term potential than the Johnston &amp; Black storyline, so having them look a bit stronger would have seemed the better play for the future.)<\/i><\/p>\n<p>-Next Brian Zane appeared on-screen to rank his Top-5 Tag-Teams in the History of Ring of Honor, going from #5-#1<\/p>\n<p><b>#5<\/b> <i>Generation Next (Roderick Strong &amp; Austin Aries)<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>#4<\/b> <i>Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero &amp; Claudio Castagnoli)<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>#3<\/b> <i>The Young Bucks (Nick Jackson &amp; Matt Jackson)<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>#2<\/b> <i>ReDRagon (Bobby Fish &amp; Kyle O\u2019Reilly)<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>#1<\/b> <i>The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe &amp; Mark Briscoe)<\/i> (c)<\/p>\n<p>-Back \u201clive\u201d, it\u2019s time for our main event<\/p>\n<p><b>(3) TWO GUYS ONE TAG (Silas Young &amp; Josh Woods) vs. THE BRISCOES (Jay &amp; Mark Briscoe)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Briscoes were WAY over with the Philadelphia crowd, as this match was taped at Final Battle Fallout.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Woods and Silas played \u201cRock, Paper, Scissors\u201d to decide who started the match, with Woods eventually winning.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Code of Honor was adhered to by all four men.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Mark and Josh begin the match with some impressive mat wrestling, with Woods gaining the advantage. (c)<\/p>\n<p>Silas quickly tags himself in the match, in disgust after Woods gave Mark a playful spank on the rear.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>More chain wrestling occurred before the Briscoes took the match outside, and gained the advantage.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Briscoes pound on Silas for several minutes before getting the hot tag to Woods, who quickly took control on Jay.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Silas recovered and 2G1T took control into the next commercial break.
