AT THE PERFORMANCE CENTER<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>JUNE 29, 2020<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>AIRS ON USA NETWORK, 8:00 p.m. EDT<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>BY FRANK PETEANI (@FrankPeteani), PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>Announcers: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, Samoa Joe <\/em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Top 10 Moments from Last Week\u2019s Show<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Top 10 Raw moments: WWE Top 10, June 22, 2020\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ubt-xKVH0iQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Overview and Items Advertised by WWE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Despite recent reports of multiple WWE talent and employees contracting Covid-19, we continue with Raw tonight as we head towards Extreme Rules: Horror Show which takes place on July 19.\u00a0 Thus far, three titles are on the line.\u00a0 This past Friday, Nikki Cross earned a Smackdown Women\u2019s Championship match against Bayley.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what\u2019s advertised for tonight on WWE\u2019s website:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Double contract signing for Extreme Rules: The Horror Show<\/li>\n<li>Will Seth Rollins continue his reign of terror?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My hunch is we\u2019ll see more non-wrestling segments for the time being unless WWE just throws caution to the wind and has multiple matches with many people involved as they did on Smackdown.\u00a0 Read PWTorch VIP analyst Todd Martin\u2019s tweets about what they did this past Friday.\u00a0 Todd tells it like it is and I think what he had to say is important:<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/ToddMartinMMA\/status\/1276752122932088843?s=20<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/ToddMartinMMA\/status\/1276752264200323072?s=20<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/ToddMartinMMA\/status\/1276752330772418560?s=20<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/ToddMartinMMA\/status\/1276752492110532608?s=20<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/ToddMartinMMA\/status\/1276752919208091650?s=20<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-3893209492\" class=\"pwtor-content pwtor-entity-placement\"><div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __336x280\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x250\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>As of this writing, WWE does not have their official preview up, so I suspect it will be up later in the day.\u00a0 The other major items I expect them to follow up on are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax multiple brawls last week leading to Charlotte\u2019s injury<\/li>\n<li>Natalya &amp; Lana and their growing partnership \/ Liv Morgan &amp; Ruby Riott reunite to have a tag match against them?<\/li>\n<li>MVP courting U.S. Champion Apollo Crews to be his client<\/li>\n<li>Akira Tozawa and his 24\/7 Championship<\/li>\n<li>Building to Big Show vs. Randy Orton<\/li>\n<li>Building to the Viking Raiders vs. Andrade &amp; Angel Garza.\u00a0 Raw Tag Team Champions the Street Profits will likely be tied into this.\u00a0 Triple threat at Extreme Rules?\u00a0 (WWE has me so programmed to expect these matches these day)<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Double Contract Signing: Asuka and Sasha Banks Sign for Raw Women\u2019s Championship, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler Sign for WWE Championship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Well, I suppose they\u2019re doing a different type of contract signin<\/p>\n<p>Last week, we learned of two championship matches that will take place at Extreme Rules: The Horror Show.\u00a0 Dolph Ziggler arrived from Smackdown, interrupted WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, and announced that he and Robert Roode were sent to Raw to complete the trade for A.J. Styles.\u00a0 He and Drew talked about their history from two years ago, and Dolph then challenged Drew for the WWE Championship citing that he needed a challenger for Extreme Rules (not that WWE couldn\u2019t come up with a method to determine a challenger, but whatever).\u00a0 Drew accepted, and the match was announced officially later in the show.<\/p>\n<p>Smackdown Women\u2019s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks later retained the WWE Women\u2019s Tag Team Champions over the IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce).\u00a0 After the match, Sasha expressed jealousy over Bayley being a double champion.\u00a0 She then challenged Asuka to a Raw Women\u2019s Championship match, who earlier in the evening retained her title after finally defeating Charlotte.\u00a0 Asuka accepted but was then double-teamed by Bayley and Sasha.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, all four parties involved in the championship matches at Extreme Rules will be in the ring for a contract signing.\u00a0 Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler will sign the contract for their WWE Championship match.\u00a0 Asuka and Sasha Banks will sign for the Raw Women\u2019s Championship.<\/p>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis:\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure the benefit of signing both contracts at the same time since both matches have nothing to do with each other.\u00a0 Having seen so many of these things, it\u2019s hard to get excited.\u00a0 More importantly, it\u2019s stupid that Dolph just gets to challenge for the WWE Championship.\u00a0 At least have him earn it some way or give him some strong wins.\u00a0 He\u2019s been involved in the Otis &amp; Mandy Rose storyline on Smackdown, which hardly qualifies him as a championship contender.\u00a0 Why does Sasha get to challenge for the Raw Women\u2019s Championship?\u00a0 I understand it\u2019s a great match, and one I\u2019ll be happy to see, but explain to us why she gets to do this.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Next Up for Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Last week, another chapter unfolded in the story of Rey Mysterio &amp; his son Dominic and Seth Rollins.\u00a0 Rey and Dominic were on hand to confront Rollins.\u00a0 Rey told Dominic how scared he made him a week earlier when he went to confront Rollins on his own.\u00a0 While he made him proud, he told Dominic he still put himself at risk.\u00a0 As Rollins made his way to the stage he eventually knelt at ringside, and Austin Theory and Murphy made their way out.\u00a0 As they were going to attack Rey and Dominic, Aleister Black and Humberto Carrillo made their way out for the save.\u00a0 They were able to stop Murphy and Theory injuring Dominic\u2019s eye the way Rollins did to Rey.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, we\u2019ll learn of the next chapter between Seth Rollins and the Mysterios.<\/p><div id=\"pwtor-1925561575\" class=\"pwtor-content-1 pwtor-entity-placement\"><!-- Tag ID: pwtorchcom_test_300x600 -->\r\n<div align=\"center\" data-freestar-ad=\"__336x280 __300x600\" id=\"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\">\r\n  <script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\r\n    freestar.config.enabled_slots.push({ placementName: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\", slotId: \"pwtorchcom_test_300x600\" });\r\n  <\/script>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><em>Frank\u2019s Analysis:\u00a0 I\u2019m intrigued to see where this is going.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t be surprised to see a six-man tag match with Black, Carrillo, and Rey vs. Rollins, Theory, and Murphy which would lead to Rey vs. Rollins one-on-one.\u00a0 That match sounds like a SummerSlam deal to me, but WWE doesn\u2019t hold off on things all that well.\u00a0 I\u2019m still not 100% sold Dominic is turning on his father, but I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s impossible.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Other Match Results and News Items from Last Week <\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Street Profits (Montez Ford &amp; Angelo Dawkins) defeated the Viking Raiders (Erik &amp; Ivar) to retain the Raw Tag Team Championship.<\/li>\n<li>Asuka defeated Charlotte to retain the Raw Women\u2019s Championship.\u00a0 Earlier, Charlotte and Nia Jax got into a physical confrontation in the ring.\u00a0 Charlotte\u2019s shoulder was \u201cinjured\u201d in the attack.\u00a0 Nia attacked her backstage after the match.\u00a0 According to multiple wrestling media outlets she is having surgery not related to the attack and will miss six weeks.\u00a0 WWE posted an update to Charlotte\u2019s injury on their website, citing the pre-match and post-match attack by Nia as the reasons.<\/li>\n<li>In a pre-taped segment, Edge spoke about Randy Orton\u2019s attack on Christian a week earlier.\u00a0 He said he woke up a side of him that had been dormant, and that\u2019s the \u201cevil\u201d and the Rated-R Superstar.<\/li>\n<li>Akira Tozawa defeated R-Truth to win the 24\/7 Championship.<\/li>\n<li>Natalya defeated Liv Morgan.\u00a0 Ruby Riott tried to comfort Liv later, but Liv would have none of it.<\/li>\n<li>Ric Flair anointed Randy Orton the greatest wrestler ever.\u00a0 Big Show interrupted and vowed revenge on behalf of Edge and Christian.<\/li>\n<li>U.S. Champion Apollo Crews was a guest of MVP on the MVP Lounge.\u00a0 MVP once again tried to recruit Apollo, but Apollo rejected.\u00a0 He then defeated Shelton Benjamin to retain the U.S. title.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Final Thoughts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There was a lot in the way of storylines last week with which to keep up, but I\u2019m not sure much is intriguing.\u00a0 It isn\u2019t bad though, don\u2019t get me wrong.\u00a0 I\u2019m into the Rey-Rollins storyline and I\u2019m into what happens with Apollo Crews.\u00a0 While I like the potential Sasha vs. Asuka match, at least explain why this can happen.\u00a0 I\u2019m not against brand-to-brand crossings and yes, there is the brand-to-brand invitational rule, but they never explained that a wrestler from one show can challenge for a title on another.\u00a0 It\u2019s annoying how they got to Drew vs. Dolph, but it\u2019s the In Your House formula where you can give a wrestler a one-month push and give the champ a strong win.\u00a0 Overall I\u2019m looking forward to the show, just have it all make a level of sense.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>Follow Frank on Twitter @FrankPeteani.\u00a0 Questions and discussion are welcome!\u00a0 Thank you for reading.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CATCH UP&#8230;
