WWE Smackdown/ECW house show report
October 17, 2007
Manchester, England, MEN Arena.
By Mike B., PWTorch correspondent
Show started with The Fink welcoming us all. Armando Estrada then comes down to announce the main events for the show, Punk vs Big Daddy V and Matt Striker in a handicap match and a six-man tag match of MVP, Finlay and Khali vs. Matt Hardy, Batista and The Undertaker.
(1) Jesse & Festus defeated Deuce & Domino. Okay match with Jesse getting the upperhand then playing the 'face in peril' until he hit the tag on festus who cleaned house then tagged Jesse back in who hit a top rope clothesline to win.
(2) John Morrison defeated Jeter. Jeter guy got all the offense in until Morrison used the ropes on a roll up for the cheap win.
(3) Michelle McCool & Maryse defeated Victoria & a random brunette diva. I have no idea who it was. McCool escaped the widows peak then hit the chick kick for the win.
(4) Chuck Palumbo defeated Dave Taylor. Taylor got on the mic saying how he know knows why he left the UK, because he hates English people. Palumbo won with the big boot then posed for the crowd.
(5) Kane defeated Kevin Thorn. Kane's pyro was scary and unexpected at a house show. Kane won with the choke slam.
(6) Rey Mysterio defeated Chris Masters. Crowd loved Mysterio. Ok match with Rey hitting all his moves then finishing with the 619 followed by a frogsplash. Post match Rey put some little kid on his shoulders who was dressed in complete Mysterio gear and posed on the ring steps. Kid must have been happy.
C.M. Punk [artist Jess Hickman (c) PWTorch]
(7) Big Daddy V and Striker defeated C.M. Punk. Punk came out to a great reaction. His ribs were taped. Punk wore down Striker until he tagged in V who then destroyed Punk with his standing splash for the crappy finish. Poor match.
(8) Matt Hardy & Batista & The Undertaker defeated MVP & Finlay & Khali. Great match with lots of action. Being at an Undertaker entrance was worth the ticket money alone. Hornswaggle ran in towards the end to help Finlay but Undertaker grabbed him for his troubles. Taker threw him out the ring then hit Finlay and MVP with clotheslines. Hardy hit the Twist of Fate on MVP then Batista speared Khali. Finlay set Undertaker up for the tombstone but Taker reversed by falling back to set Finlay up but then immediately dropped Finlay on his head by mistake. Taker shook his head and picked Finlay up for a proper Tombstone and it's over. Show closed with taker posing then leaving. Batista and Hardy stayed in the ring while Batista did the V1 taunts to the crowd. Hardy leaves and Batista has fun with the crowd seeing which side is loudest which was quite funny. Crowd went home happy.
Notes: Good show overall. Worth the money.
QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults07" (@pwtorch. com).
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the "&" symbol as opposed to stating "and. " Reserve use of " and" when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. " Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match" ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
