TNA house show report
March 19, 2008
Springfield, Mo.
Report by Jeremy Walker, PWTorch.com reader
I was at the TNA house show in Springfield, Missouri last night at the Shrine Mosque auditorium. There was probably about the same amount of people at the show as when TNA was here last year, which was somewhere around 60% full I would say. It was a pretty raucous crowd, partially because Jeremy Borash said that they were going to pick some of the loudest fans would get to go backstage to meet some of the wrestlers, which they seemed to do during intermission. They also videotaped some of the crowd for a future segment on Impact.
(1) Petey Williams defeated Jimmy Rave (with Christy Hemme) using the Canadian Destroyer. Pretty normal match you would see on TV, and nothing really out of the ordinary to mention.
(2) The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Curry Man & Kaz when Kaz was pinned. I missed who actually pinned Kaz and how it exactly happened. It was a pretty good match, with all the usual antics by Curry Man and the the impressive double team moves by the Guns. A chant of "Fallen Angel" occurred for Curry Man at the opening of the match, which prompted him to make gestures implying he was confused why they would be chanting that. Quite a bit a pop for Curry Man and the Guns, although Kaz was booed some.
(3) Awesome Kong defeated ODB in a Knockout Title match with an awesome bomb. This match was probably about the shortest of the night, as it last maybe only three or four minutes. ODB needed help to the back after the awesome bomb, but it looked like she maybe just got the wind knocked out of her as it didn't look like she was really injured or anything.
(4) Booker T (w/Sharmell) defeated Robert Roode (w/Payton Banks) using the Bookend. At the beginning of the match, Roode kept going out of the ring, and eventually told JB to tell the crowd that they were to show him respect or he was leaving Springfield and never coming back. When the action actually started, it ended up as a pretty good match with Booker winning with the Bookend.
(5) A.J. Styles & Tomko defeated LAX in a TNA Tage Title match when A.J. rolled up Homicide. Homicide complained to the ref about A.J. holding his tights after the match. Really good action, with Tomko and AJ doing most of their signature moves, and Hernandez with a jump over the top rope to hit Tomko about midway through the match. The reaction was kind of mixed for both LAX and Tomko and A.J., although Tomko and AJ clearly were the favorites.
(6) Kurt Angle defeated Christian Cage in a TNA World Title match when Angle made Christian tap to the Ankle Lock. This match started out slow, but ended as a really good match with many near falls and many reverses. Christian definitely had the most pop, but the crowd was still mixed for both of them.
Notes: They had a autograph and picture with Angle session for $20 after the match inside the ring. Some of the other wrestlers signed autographs around the ring as this was going on. Booker also signed during intermission.
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults07" (@pwtorch. com).
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
