TNA Live Event
August 14, 2008
Estero, Fla.
Report by Jay Pobursky, longtime PWTorch reader
Went to the TNA show with my son last night. Let me start right out saying TNA had to be disappointed in the turnout. A favorable estimate would be 700. Now let me preface that by saying the crowd was very vocal and responded appropriately. We had Silent Bob and Jay in front of us and they were worth the price of admission. Bob was not silent. Borash revved the crowd up. He is very good and has a great voice as ring announcer.
(1) Petey Williams beat Consequences Creed. Canadian Destroyer in about 8 minutes. I cheered the heel loud as hell and got Bob and Jay riled. I love Petey.
(2) Super Eric defeated Johnny Devine in a comedy match. Poor Kaz also got thrown in this mess. Ref shirt changes and Young doing the super schtick. The best thing I can say about this is we saw Devine sneak out immediately after and talk to two ladies in a empty section near the wrestler entrance. Come on JD, VIP em.
(3) Taylor Wilde beats Awesome Kong. Not much crowd reaction to this. Taylor looks pretty skilled, but I wanted Kim or ODB. The old stale roll up for the win. Lots of Kong offense before the "upset".
(4) Christian Cage defeated Kip James. Christian looked small with Kip, the stick is his strength. Kip is still in phenomenal shape. They mailed this one in. Only the crowd begging for old WWE DX stuff made it some what interesting. Kinda seemed like James was on a rat hunt. Speaking of what makes wrestlers go, JD's ladies were escorted through the ice rink boards to the back during this. Intermission
(5) Beer Money defeated LAX Longest match of the night. LAX has it, TNA should use it. My boy and Bob & Jay tore it up. I thought they were all going to burst a blood vessel cheering for LAX. BM won with their finisher and some despicable cheating. Afterwards LAX took two kids into the ring and made them feel special(hey Hernandez quite carrying that kid like a loaf of bread). Great Stuff.
(6) Samoa Joe defeated Abyss. No workrate classics tonight. The chair kicked into the face of Abyss leads to the pin. Lots of Black Hole Slams and offense for Abyss attempting to keep him strong. They did the usual walk out and sign autographs. $20 for a Samoa Joe picture, Joe seemed really into it. Could not believe the size of the line for Joe. Does Rhaka Khan have a personality because she is a awesome specimen. Hope TNA will give southwest Florida another try. Bring stars next time.
TIPS FOR SENDING IN HOUSE SHOW REPORTS
If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to pwtorch@gmail.com.
We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.
Also, please list tag teams using the & symbol as opposed to stating and. Reserve use of and when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.
Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
