WWE Raw house show report
April 10, 2010
Dublin, Ireland
Report by Mark Lonergan, Torch reader

The O2 Arena was full except for the upper deck, which was closed off, and the crowd was hot. A lot of Sheamus t-shirts were worn by the older crowd.

(1) MVP beat Chavo Guerrero. Good five or six minutes of offense by each wrestler. The crowd loved "Ballin'" by MVP and the 3 Amigos by Chavo. MVP hit the Playmaker for the win.

(2) Evan Bourne beat Dos Caras. Dos cut a promo in Spanish, which no one really cared about until Evan came out. Good mat wrestling with Caras in complete control. Dos looked very good and he used the Torture Rack, which looked pretty cool to see again. The finish came with Evan planting him with the double running knees and the Air Bourne for the win.

Next up was the Masterlock Challenge with Hornswoggle. This was pointless and was a bathroom break for many. The bit ended with Hornswoggle landing a drop toehold on Masters into a chair, then he chased Hornswoggle backstage.

(3) Divas champion Maryse beat Kelly Kelly and Eve in three-way match to retain the Divas Title. At the start, the challengers teamed up to take out Maryse and the crowd went mad for Kelly Kelly's stink face. After Eve threw Maryse out of the ring, she and Kelly went at it. Kelly executed her 'round-the-head scissors to take out Eve, but Maryse ran back into the ring and hit a DDT on Kelly for the win.

Legacy came out shortly thereafter and Ted cut a promo about him being one of the "fortunate sons" and how the Million Dollar belt reflects how good he is. Cody then took over and spoke about how he had to wear protective head gear because of Randy's Punt at WrestleMania 26.

(4) Randy Orton beat Legacy (Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes) in a handicap match. Major pop when Orton came out. The match started with Legacy getting the upper hand until the match was stopped for about 15 minutes. A medic came into the ring to close up DiBiase, who had a nasty-looking cut on his forehead. The highspot of the match was Randy doing that double DDT from WrestleMania. He then did his "Viper expressions" when he lined up Rhodes for the Punt, but Ted made the save. The finish came with Randy reversing Dream Street, taking Ted out, and delivering a huge RKO to Rhodes.

(5) Christian beat William Regal. Regal cut a promo saying he can't believe he was forced to come back to Ireland and how it disgusts him. Christian came out to a big pop and got an "ole, ole" chant going from the crowd. The match went back and forth, with Christian hitting some nice spots including a missile dropkick and dropkick to the outside. The finish came when Christian hit the Killswitch. Afterward, the crowd sang the "Goodbye" song to Regal and he shouted back at the audience.

(6) Unified tag champions Big Show & The Miz beat Kofi Kingston & Mark Henry to retain the Unified tag titles. Miz cut a great promo at the start about how good the team is and how no one in the back was capable of beating them. Out came Kofi (to a good pop), followed by Mark Henry. Good work from Miz and Kofi (they worked well together) and Big Show looked good in the ring with Kofi until Henry was tagged in. They did the whole Test of Strength until Big Show dropped Henry and both Miz and Kofi tagged in. Show knocked Henry into the ringpost and tagged in to give Kofi the KO Punch for the win.

Up next was the main event for the WWE Title and this is what everyone was waiting for. Justin Roberts introduced Bret Hart first to a massive pop as the special enforcer of the evening. Out came Sheamus to a massive pop. The place went nuts for him as he slapped hands the whole way down to the ring. Then, the champ, John Cena, was introduced and he received major heat from the crowd except for a handful of kids up the back of the seats.

(7) WWE champion John Cena beat Sheamus to retain the WWE Title. This reminded me of One Night Stand with Cena vs. RVD. The crowd was insane with chants of "Sheamus is gonna kill ya" and "If Cena wins, we riot." The crowd took over and ten mins into the match, both competitors stopped to play to the crowd with Cena being booed non-stop. They tied up for the power struggle, which went back and forth with cheers for Sheamus and boos for Cena. The match was amazing and PPV quality, with so many nearfalls for Sheamus's backbreaker and pump kick. Sheamus then kicked out of the Attitude Adjustment and got to the ropes for the STF. He pump-kicked Cena again, rolled out of the ring threw a chair in, and brought another one in as the ref put the first one out. Right before he could use it, Bret Hart slid into the ring and grabbed the chair from him. Cena hit another Attitude Adjustment, this time for the win, which no one in the crowd like.

After the match, as both men stood to a standing ovation, Cena took the mic. He congratulated Sheamus and told him he took the champ to the limits and handed him the title. He said tonight this belongs to him for his moment. He then saluted the arena and was clapped out. Sheamus to the mic and spoke about how great it is being home and only three years ago, he was a security member in the building. Now, he's in the main event for the title. The crowd started chanting "SOS," which he loved and in return he started chanting "You'll never beat the Irish," which everyone continued to chant. Before he left the arena, he thanked everyone and said it's only a matter of time before he'll be back as champ. He went around ringside standing on top of the barriers and in the crowd waving the Irish flag.

Biggest pops
(1) Sheamus
(2) Randy Orton
(3) Bret Hart

Biggest Heat
(1) John Cena
(2) William Regal
(3) The Miz
