WWE house show results
May 15, 2010
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Report by Jennifer Porter, PWTorch reader

At the start of the show, Matt Hardy was introduced to the ring in street clothes. He said he was scheduled to wrestle tonight, but could not compete due to the injuries sustained from the incident with Drew McIntyre. Drew came out to a surprising amount of heat and called Matt Hardy a coward. Kofi Kingston then ran to the ring and attacked Drew. It was announced that Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston would start off the show with a match for the Intercontinental Title.

(1) Kofi Kingston beat Intercontinental champion Drew McIntyre. Apparently the announcement was a mistake, as Kofi won, but did not win the IC Title.

Next match, it was Divas time. Tiffany was announced as our special guest GM for the evening. She worked the crowd to get people excited. Layla then came out as the new WWE Women's champion to face Kelly Kelly.

(2) Women's champion Layla defeated Kelly Kelly to retain the Women's Title.

(3) Darren Young defeated David Otunga. Next was an NXT Rookie match. David Otunga came out and cut a promo for his "A List" persona. Darren Young followed as his opponent. Most people did not know who they were and the crowd was pretty dead.

(4) MVP defeated Shad Gaspard. Okay match, but Shad seemed a little big for MVP's signature moves. A little kid had an MVP sign and Shad grabbed it and tore it up. The crowd enjoyed this.

[Intermission]

Cody Rhodes came out and cut a good promo. His match was against Chris Masters.

(5) Cody Rhodes beat Chris Mastersm. Masters did well for most of the match, but Cody hit Cross Rhodes and got the pin. A short match compared to the rest of the card.

Straight Edge Society came out next minus C.M. Punk. I knew he wasn't working the house shows this weekend, but it was disappointing. His replacement was the "Mystery Man" from the past few weeks. Christian came out next to a good pop. Rey Mysterio was next and the crowd went nuts. There were a lot of Mysterio lovin' kids in the audience. It was the biggest pop of the night.

(6) Christian & Rey Mysterio defeated Straight Edge Society (Luke Gallows & mystery man w/Serena).

The last match on the card was for the World Heavyweight Title. Jack Swagger came out to some good heat and spoke to the audience. He referred to the trophy incident of the previous night on Smackdown. He asked the audience to please show some respect. Big Show came out and looked like he was having a good time and the match began.

(7) Big Show beat World Hvt. champion Jack Swagger via DQ; Swagger retained the World Title. Swagger tried to run away with the belt after being unable to sustain any offense. Big Show pulled him back as he was running away, and Swagger struck the Big Show with the belt. Jack Swagger was disqualified, but retained the title.

After the match, Big Show worked the crowd for quite a while, posing for pictures, signing autographs, and putting kids up on his shoulders. This was nice and it seems he is enjoying his current face run. I had also gone to the Raw house show back in September and I actually liked this Smackdown show more. The Superstars cut a lot more promos and WWE tried to set it up like it was an actual show, not just random matches.
