WWE Smackdown brand house show results
June 6, 2010
Indianapolis, Ind.
Report by Brian Figueiredo, PWTorch VIP member

I just got back from a WWE Smackdown house show at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. It had been several years since WWE had just had a house show in Indianapolis. They have Raw or Smackdown TV here a few times a year.

(1) Christian beat Dolph Ziggler. Christian won with the Killswitch. Hornswoggle came out after the match and hit the tadpole splash on Ziggler.

Straight Edge Society members Luke Gallows, the mystery hooded man, and Serena attacked Christian in the aisleway. They came to the ring to issue an open challenge. Kane answered the challenge and beat both men in a handicap match.

(2) Kane beat Straight Edge Society (Luke Gallows & mystery man w/Serena) in a handicap match.

Rosa Mendes came out as the guest host and selected a child as the guest bell-ringer.

(3) Co-Women's champion Layla beat Tiffany. Afterwards, she started to beat down Tiffany, but Kelly Kelly came to the rescue.

(4) Finlay beat Heath Slater. Decent match. Slater cut a heel promo before the match.

(5) Intercontinental champion Kofi Kingston beat Drew McIntyre. McIntyre cut a promo talking about his birthday being today and complaining about Matt Hardy (foreshadowing a run-in). He then started singing "Happy Birthday to Me" and got cut off by Kofi's entrance music. Kofi won in a decent match. The finish looked botched to me.

Post-match: McIntyre beat down Kofi, then Matt Hardy ran out and hit the Side Effect on McIntyre. Hardy ran off to the back, then when McIntyre was leaving the ring, Hardy ran back out, threw him into the ring, and hit a Twist of Fate. When McIntyre got up from the Twist of Fate, he took Kofi's Trouble in Paradise spinning heel kick. That led to intermission.

After intermission, NXT finalist Justin Gabriel came out and cut a heel promo. Chavo Guerrero came out to a face reaction. When did Chavo turn face?

(6) Chavo Guerrero beat Justin Gabriel. They had a pretty even match. Chavo hit the Three Amigos suplexes on Gabriel early on. Gabriel then went up for the 450 Splash, but he was met with Chavo's knees. Chavo then scored the pin with the Frog Splash.

(7) MVP beat Cody Rhodes. Good match.

(8) World Hvt. champion Jack Swagger beat Big Show, Rey Mysterio, and C.M. Punk to retain the World Hvt. Title in the main event. I liked the four-way because there was always action in the ring with no long headlocks or arm-bars. Swagger came out first. C.M. Punk then came out and cut a promo on Indianapolis being nothing but a toilet break between his hometown of Chicago and --- (Big Show's Music cut him off). Mysterio was the last out. The match ended with Mysterio hitting the 619 on Punk, but Swagger threw Mysterio out of the ring and scored the pinfall on Punk. Post-match, Big Show and Mysterio beat down Swagger to send the fans home happy.

A return date of September 20 was announced for a Monday Night Raw broadcast. With intermission, the show lasted two-and-a-half hours.

Additional notes from Torch reader Joseph Cooley: It was a good show with some decent action. The crowd was about half-full with the floor and lower level packed, but the upper deck areas not so much.

The four-way main event was fast-paced and the crowd loved Rey and Big Show. Also during the main event, Kane ran out and destroyed everyone, I assume playing into The Undertaker storyline, but it seemed a little random. At the end, Rey posed with the belt and kissed it like he won it, which was a little strange. Overall, an entertaining show.
