WWE Supershow results
July 16, 2011
Milwaukee, Wis.
Report by James Maxwell, PWTorch reader

This was a great, entertaining show. The Bradley Center wasn't close to full, as the upper deck was tarped off, but it was a good crowd and was pretty loud all night.

(1) The Miz last eliminated Rey Mysterio to win a 16-man MITB participants battle royal to earn a WWE Title match vs. John Cena later in the night. This was a great, action-packed battle royal. There was one portion where Rey and Sin Cara went face-to-face and some high-flying headscissors and such on each other, which was quite a sight.

A.J. came out to try to get some people to volunteer for a contest, but she was interrupted by The Bella Twins. They made fun of her and started pushing her around until Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres ran out to make the save. The Raw GM sound went off and Justin Roberts announced that the GM had ordered a tag team match.

(2) Beth Phoenix & Eve Torres beat The Bella Twins. Beth was worked over before she made the hot tag. Eve pinned one of the Bellas after hitting her neckbreaker.

Later in the show, they did hold the contest. It was a dance contest with four people, won by a young boy. He got to go backstage and meet the Superstars.

(3) Intercontinental champion Ezekiel Jackson beat Cody Rhodes via submission to retain the Intercontinental Title. Rhodes spoke before the match, saying his usual stuff and that he would win MITB. He also did the paper bag routine. When Zeke came out, Cody tried to give him a bag. Zeke acted like he was gonna put it on, then ripped it up. Decent match. Cody hit a nice Beautiful Disaster. In the end, Zeke hit three bodyslams and made Cody tap in the torture rack.

(4) World Hvt. champion Randy Orton beat Christian to retain the World Heavyweight Title. This was awesome, best match of the night. Beforehand, Christian spoke. He talked about how we in Milwaukee couldn't relate to him losing the World Title because we've never been winners in the first place. He asked us if we'd ever been a World champion. He told one fan that eating and drinking didn't count. Orton, as expected, got a huge pop when his music hit. The match was great. Lots of false finishes, including Orton kicking out of the Killswitch. In the end, Orton caught Christian diving off the ropes with an RKO for the win. Orton was over big time. After the match, he went all around ringside shaking hands and signing autographs.

At this point, there was a brief intermission.

(5) U.S. champion Dolph Ziggler beat Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne in a triple threat match to retain the United States Title. Ziggler got on the mic when he came out, telling the fans that after MITB, the U.S. Title will be the only title that matters and that we'll be begging him to take us back. Dolph pinned Kofi after the Zig-Zag. After the match, he tried to hit Kofi with the belt, but got hit with Trouble in Paradise. Bourne then hit the Shooting Star Press.

(6) Big Show & Kane beat Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel. I'd say Big Show actually got the #3 pop of the night behind Cena and Orton. Lots of comedic spots with Slater and Gabriel being afraid of Show and Kane. In the end, Show and Kane hit chokeslams in stereo and Big Show got the pin.

Jinder Mahal and The Great Khali came out (to Khali's old music) to confront Show and Kane, but Khali was hit once and tumbled out. Mahal received a double chokeslam. Khali then backed off when he was challenged to get back in the ring.

(7) WWE champion John Cena beat The Miz to retain the WWE Title. This was a solid main event. Miz spoke beforehand, said what you'd expect and got his "AWESOME" in. Cena got a huge pop mixed with a small portion of boos. He also got a brief, small "C.M. Punk" chant. The crowd was really into this match. It was a back-and-forth affair before Miz eventually took control, then Cena made his comeback with the shoulder blocks, spin-out slam, and Five-Knuckle Shuffle. Miz got out of the STF and hit his low DDT. Miz with the Skull-Crushing Finale, but Cena kicked out. Miz then tried to throw Cena into a corner where he exposed the turnbuckle earlier, but Cena reversed it and threw Miz into it, then hit the AA for the win. Cena went around shaking hands and signed a couple autographs to close the show.

Wrestling-wise, this may have been the best WWE show I've been to. Two-and-a-half hours of solid action and there really wasn't a bad match. To anyone who hasn't gone to a house show, I strongly encourage you to. You'll get a solid 2-3 hours of action without anyone having to worry about time constraints, which means longer matches and more crowd interaction. All in all, awesome show.
