RADICAN'S DVD REVIEW SERIES
FANDIMONIUM: BEER MONEY INC. & MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS
RELEASED BY TNA JUNE, 2010
BY SEAN RADICAN, TORCH COLUMNIST (Pt. 1)

TNA's latest DVD set features Beer Money Inc. & MCMG. This set includes two separate DVDs for each tag team with matches included that were voted on by the fans. It is easy to tell that this is a good concept right off the bat. If the fans are going to choose the matches, logically they will go out and get this DVD. This release is like having two separate DVD releases in one set. The first disc features Beer Money Inc. and the second disc features MCMG. If you turn over the DVD, there are also two different covers for both tag teams.

The affable Jeremy Borash is the host for both discs, but he only appears at the beginning and the end of the DVDs. Both discs follow the typical TNA home release pattern with interviews shown in-between matches.

Storm and Roode say some interesting things on this release, but they don't go as in-depth as they should have on their disc. Storm begins the "Beer Money" disc by talking about how he grew up watching the USWA. He mentions that PG-13 was a big influence on him.

The only issue with this release is that the matches are shown out of order presumably because they were ranked by the fans, which makes for some confusing timeline issues with Beer Money working as faces and heels. Another takeaway from these matches is that nearly all of them ended because of some sort of fluke finish. Also, nearly all of the Beer Money matches had some sort of stipulation. I'm not a huge fan of stipulation matches for the sake of having a stipulation, so a lot of these matches just blended together for me, although the Beer Money-Team 3D match from Lockdown was really good, as were some of the matches featuring Beer Money vs. British Invasion.

Roode and Storm both talk about just being put together in 2008. Storm says they are the perfect team to appeal to southern wrestling fans because everyone in the south likes beer and money, but the problem is that TNA has a global audience and they aren't a regional promotion, although they pretend to be much of the time.

Roode and Storm constantly put over Team 3D as a big influence in their careers. This was one of the most interesting parts of the DVD, as Storm talked about Team 3D taking them under their wing backstage and offering advice and critiques for all of their matches.

The talk about Team 3D is spread out between segments after matches, so some of it gets repetitive after awhile. These segments would have come off better if they were edited together perhaps, which also would have left some room for Storm and Roode to discuss their careers in TNA before they became Beer Money. There's also some kayfabe talk here from both men, as they say they hate the British invasion, but they do manage to cut their promos on them in a way where they show that they respect Doug Williams, Brutus Magnus, and Rob Terry.

As mentioned previously, one of the better Beer Money matches included on the disc is their match from Lockdown against Team 3D with the ridiculous open cage door gimmick. Despite the gimmick, the match was really good and Roode and Storm talk about how it was their best match as a team. Both men talked about they rush they got from the Philadelphia crowd at Lockdown 2009 working against Team 3D in that match.

Another interesting conversation that takes place is when Roode and Storm talk about sticking together so they can become legendary like Team 3D. Beer Money is a really good tag team, but the booking has gotten in the way of them staking their reputation among wrestling fans. It's odd to watch some of the pre-match hype videos, as in one of them Storm says he wants to be TNA Champion one day, which is in direct contrast to their discussion of being legendary.

Storm and Roode constantly put over the importance of the TNA Tag Team titles, which is a nice touch. Segments like this should be an integral part of Impact, as it seems like no titles are important when watching TNA television.

I give the "Beer Money" DVD a solid thumbs up. It's worth the price of admission alone with all of the matches and interview segments included. I also liked the bonus, which featured the "Rough Cuts" segments that were used to build up the Beer Money-Team 3D match at Lockdown 2009. Those were really good interviews. I'll be back later this week with pt. 2 and my review of the MCMG disc.

Here's a list of the matches included on the "Beer Money" disc:

Beer Money Inc. & Team 3D vs. Booker T & Scott Steiner & British Invasion: Lethal Lockdown - TNA No Surrender 2009
