ETC. News: Hogan says son Nick wasn't drag racing, Nick a good kid, media jumped on him Sep 4, 2007 - 4:53:00 PM
Hulk Hogan spoke to US Weekly magazine about his son Nick's car crash last week. Excerpts:
-Regarding rumors of drag racing: "It's just so unfair. There's not a bad bone in my son Nick's body, the most important thing to me was from all the eyewitnesses and from everyone who saw the accident, was that they were not racing. Nick's car was the only car involved. The media jumped on my son. I tell my son to stay strong because at the end of the day when all the facts are in, it was an accident."
-Regarding Nick's current state of mind: "Nick is doing well. He's got a broken arm and a broken rib and some stuff wrong with his knees but he's hanging in there. He's going to be okay and we're going to move forward."
Writer Jim Robert of the National Ledger writes: "Certainly this was an accident, but it is likely time to get the young kid out from behind the wheel of a car for a while... The real shame is his passenger. John Graziano, 22, remains in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, according to the report. Nick "hanging in there" and his treatment by the press should be the least of either Hogan's worries. That's some seriously skewed logic and really bad PR."
WK: It's just so unfair, isn't it Hulk, that Nick is being criticized for his driving insanely above the speed limit on streets full of other cars and pedestrians, that he has a terrible driving record, and that he was boasting about getting away with speeding because of his celebrity shortly before this crash? The media can be so unfair. After all, he's a Hogan, he's just trying to have fun, and he's a good kid. So let him endanger other people for his selfish desire to experience a thrill.
I am actually surprised this wasn't a wake-up call for Hulk. You almost lose a son, and within days your showing no introspection or reflection on the attitude that led to such reckless, irresponsible, deadly behavior. I'm glad I don't live in the same neighborhood as Hulk and Nick. If you do, watch out for yourself and keep your kids off the roads because the Hogan family owns them and can make up their own laws, your safety be damned.
