Torch Indy Weekend Preview: Sellout at Shimmer; Castagnoli, Albright in IWC, Danielson vs. Strong in PWG, Scorpio

WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES
The big indy show this weekend is the Shimmer Women’s Athletes taping. Promoter Dave Prazak (the voice of ROH) has nearly a sellout for the taping Saturday! The venue seats about 200 people, and he WILL be turning people away at the door. This huge pre-sale speaks volumes about the quality of action and the tone of Prazak’s promoting of women as serious athletes.
The biggest men’s wrestling show this weekend is the return of International Wrestling Cartel on Saturday. IWC heads to its home in Elizabeth, Penn., with Davey Richards vs. John McChesney, Dennis Gregory vs. Claudio Castagnoli, Ricky Reyes vs. Raymond Rowe, and Brent Albright vs. Super Hentai.
IWA Mid-South actually is running a double-header on Saturday in Joliet, Ill. The evening show features Joey Ryan & Karl Anderson vs. the Iron Saints, Ian Rotten vs. Jason Dukes, Deranged vs. Brandon Thomaselli, Roderick Strong vs. Eddie Kingston, B.J. Whitmer vs. C.J. Otis.
Combat Zone Wrestling, on Saturday returns to the former ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Penn., with Ruckus vs. Human Tornado, Sabian vs. Cloudy vs. Ricochet with the winner facing Danny Havoc later in the show, Necro Butcher & Toby Klein vs. Brain Damage & DJ Hyde.
One big show on Sunday is the return of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla to suburban Los Angeles. PWG features Bryan Danielson vs. Roderick Strong, El Generico vs. Jack Evans, Human Tornado vs. Chris Hero, Davey Richards vs. Scott Lost
Also on Sunday is the return of IWR Wrestling to Royal Oak, Mich., with LA Park vs. Conrad Kennedy III, Too Cold Scorpio vs. Ultimo Dragon, Jerry Lynn vs. N8 Mattson, Josh Abercrombie vs. Gutter vs. Jimmy Jacobs vs. Truth Martini.
I will be headed tonight to Mankato, Minn., for the final AWA RUSH show. This looks like a solid show. It is unfortunate to see so few wrestling shows going on in MN right now. That lineup is below.
