Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES
The HUGE news this weekend is that Ring of Honor, for the first time, heads out West, as ROH debuts tonight in Las Vegas, Nev., then moves to San Francisco, Calif., on Sunday. Lineups for both shows are below. Human Tornado makes his long-overdue ROH debut this weekend. For ROH fans who don’t check out other promotions (Tornado has appeared in IWA-Mid South, PWG, CZW, JAPW, and several other places in the past year), they are in a for a treat when they see Tornado. Lineups for both shows are below.
AAW out of suburban Chicago is really HOT right now, as they are regularly packing their small building with about 200 fans. AAW has another big show on Saturday, with Jerry Lynn vs. Jayson Reign, Arik Cannon vs. Eric Priest, Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley vs. Trik Davis & Conrad Kennedy III, Josh Abercrombie vs. Tyler Black. Check out www.aawrestling.com for more.
In other news…
Congratulations to Conrad Kennedy III & Eddie Venom for appearing on Smackdown last week in a losing effort to Jesse & Festus. Kennedy has appeared in a couple of ROH shows in summer 2006. Venom is tall, and I’ve seen him before in IWA-Mid South and AAW. Both are regulars in the Michigan scene. While I’d love to see these guys get some offense in against the WWE ‘superstars,’ I always think it’s great when I recognize an indy wrestler on WWE TV, and it’s great exposure (and a good payday!) for them.
Likewise, the man that Umaga destroyed on Monday, Andy Simmons, has appeared for PWG in the past during a “European Vacation” trip. Speaking of “European Vacation,” Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is heading back to Europe for three shows next week, and I’ve updated those lineups below.
Planet Championship Wrestling has a show on Nov. 24 in Sarasota, Fla., that includes Sabu, the Nasty Boys, Norman Smiley, Kip James, Big Vito and Barry Horowitz. Learn more at http://planetchampionshipwrestling.com.
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
WEEKEND RESULTS
Nothing new to report.
