Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
WEEKEND PREVIEW, NEWS & NOTES
The big show over the weekend was the Jersey All Pro “10th Anniversary show”, featuring Homicide defeating Low Ki to win the JAPW heavyweight title, and Frank Kazarian defeating A.J. Styles. I’ve seen how quickly a hot promotion in the Midwest can fade and die in a very short time-span, so I really understand how rare, and how special, it is to see a promotion like JAPW reach a 10-year mark. Prior to the matches, JAPW had a ‘hall of fame’ induction, and Charlie Haas was on hand to be inducted. Paid crowd was between 700 and 1,100 fans, which also is great. Full results are below.
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla headed to Europe for a weekend of shows featuring Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, and the best of the PWG roster. On Saturday, Davey Richards & Super Dragon defeated Kevin Steen & El Generico to win the PWG tag titles.
In Chikara Pro, Delirious & Hallowicked won the tag titles on Friday. In a surprise title switch, Chuck Taylor lost his Chikara Pro “Young Lion’s Cup” to Helios on Saturday. Results of both Chikara shows are below.
In IWA Mid-South, Brain Damage & Deranged (Vulgar Display of Power) won the “Double Death Tag Championship” tournament on Friday. On Saturday, LuFisto defeated Mickie Knuckles to win the “Queen of the Deathmatch” tournament. Results are below.
Tito Santana competed in a pair of six-man tags over the weekend for New Jersey-based Independent Wrestling Federation. Those results are below.
And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
