Torch Indy Weekend Report: New IWA champ, Samoa Joe, ref Patera, Jacobs, women's shows

WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES

Welcome back! I have a bunch of indy results to pass on today.

In IWA-Mid South on Saturday, Chuck Taylor won an eight-man single-elimination tournament to regain his heavyweight title belt. He defeated Claudio Castagnoli in the finals. On Friday, Too Cold Scorpio defeated Roderick Strong in the main event. Full results are below.

Samoa Joe defeated Xavier on Friday in Northeast Wrestling to retain his TNA title. Booker T defeated Joey “Mercury” Matthews on the show. Results are below.

Honky Tonk Man and Chris Masters won their respective matches, and Ken Patera was a special referee, for National Wrestling Superstars on Saturday in Brick, N.J. NWS is boasting a paid crowd of more than 300 for the event.

Undoubtedly, women’s wrestling is growing, as IWA Mid-South held “Volcano Girls 2” on Sunday afternoon in the Chicago area, while World Women’s Wrestling was held Sunday in the Boston area. Results of both shows are below.


In other news…

IWA Mid-South will return to Joliet, Ill., on June 7 with Sabu vs. Too Cold Scorpio. IWA-MS also announced half the field for the 2008 “Ted Petty Invitational,” which will be held Sept. 26 & 27 in Joliet.
