Former WWE wrestler and current Ring of Honor wrestler Colt Cabana says he left WWE due to creative issues that were beyond his control. Cabana says he didn't feel his talents were going to be utilized well on WWE TV, so he left the company.

"I was signed after years of hard work to the WWE, which is the top of the game monetarily," Cabana told the Chicago Jewish News in a feature piece on Cabana's Jewish background. "But creatively it wasn't, I was so low on the totem pole."

Cabana says he was fortunate to wrestle in the WWE system for two years and he made the most out of his limited opportunity.

"It was a great experience to be there. Circumstances only allowed me two years, but a lot of people aren't able to get two years there, especially being a Jewish wrestler," Cabana said.

Cabana says that while he was in WWE, he took a urine test every three month as part of the Wellness Policy. Cabana says he passed every test because he's drug and steroid-free. Independent promotions don't test like WWE, though, and Cabana says there's nothing stopping wrestlers from using steroids other than common sense.

"Whether people can duck and dodge it I don't know, but I took urine tests every three months and had someone watching me," he said. "That's in the WWE. Out of the WWE, anybody who's a wrestler, an independent contractor, they have nobody telling them what to do or not to do. That's up to their own discretion."

Cabana says he's done enough damage to his body in the ring that he doesn't believe using steroids would benefit him over the long haul.

"I've wrecked my body enough just with wrestling to want to do that (steroids)," he said. "Obviously the guy who's 6-5, 225 pounds of pure muscle is going to catch the eye, but if you can't do the job past that, when what good does it do you? I'm very proud that I can do my job without it."
