Davey Richards, one of the top independent pro wrestlers, blogged that he's down on the wrestling business and says he doesn't belong in the industry. Richards said he hopes his personal investment in the EVOLVE promotion pays off, though.

"The thing I've learned through all my travels, all my trials and tribulations is very simple: I don't belong in pro wrestling," Richards posted on MySpace. "No, it's not for me. I just can't grasp it, nor do I have the desire to."

Richards said he trains for MMA as part of his pro wrestling training, but he takes too much pride in out-working his peers to leave the business for another sport like MMA.

"My performance is real to me, my pride in myself is real to me, not 'acting like, 'pretending,' or 'working' people to make them believe my skill and work ethic," Richards said. "My sport is outperforming and outworking everyone else. I am willing to work harder than anyone else to achieve this."

Richards added: "So do I belong in pro wrestling as I see it now and days? Nope. So where to turn? I can walk away, or I can create something where I feel I belong. I belong in EVOLVE."

Caldwell's Analysis: Richards is an unbelievably-skilled wrestler, but he comes from a different mindset as a pro wrestler so his comments sound different than most wrestlers would make. He's not the type of independent wrestler who was a "fan" and got into the business because he got wrapped up in the Monday Night Wars ten years ago. Richards has said he doesn't want to hang on forever to wrestling and damage his body to where he can't function later in life. Barring a major change of plans or a potential national TV run down the line, Richards has made it sound like he wants to limit himself to a small window of time in the wrestling business to make his money and get out when the time is right.
