Former TNA writer Dutch Mantell has another great blog entry detailing his only WrestleMania appearance at WrestleMania 11 when he managed the Blu Brothers (Ron & Don Harris) against Lex Luger and British Bulldog.

Mantell went behind-the-scenes on how matches are put together early in the day before PPVs, talked about Lex Luger thinking he was a main-eventer in the opening match of WrestleMania, and Mantell's views on painkillers after living off pills the entire weekend after suffering a hairline fracture earlier in the week that he worked through to be on his first WrestleMania card.

"So here I was taking Vicodins like candy which actually made me feel pretty good. On a side note, I had heard for years that wrestlers took all kinds of pain medication and all that but truthfully, this was the first time I'd ever taken a painkiller. After taking them, I wanted to kick myself in the ass for not being an ADVOCATE FOR THEM. I am not against the use of drugs, I am against the ABUSE OF DRUGS," Mantell said. "I had never taken pain killers before but I could see quickly how they could become addictive. For the first time in my life, I had an injury that was serious and I was taking pain killers to keep moving."

Related to the match finish and how difficult it can be to work out a finish with multiple egos involved, Mantell talked about wasting two hours going over the ins-and-outs of an eight-minute opening match that "no one bought a ticket to see."

"My finish took exactly two minutes to deliver, go over, and agree to. I wanted to shoot myself. We had just wasted over two hours going over a BS first match finish and Lex acted as though he was the Main Event. "If I had known that I would have been in that room with Lex 'I don't like anything' Luger for over two hours, I would have pitched that finish the minute I entered the room."
