One year and five months after WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin signed on to join the cast of "The Expendables," the summer action movie will be released in U.S. theaters today.

The action movie features an all-star cast that includes Austin, UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, "The Wrestler" star Mickey Rourke, and other big-name action stars.

Lionsgate has undertaken a massive promotional campaign since the beginning of the year trying to get the word out on the movie considering the number of big name actors involved in the project.

So far, reviews from major film critics have been mixed. The National Enquirer gave the movie a positive review, while Variety suggested it's straight-to-DVD quality. Other reviews have said the all-star cast has good on-screen chemistry and the action scenes make the movie worth viewing in theaters.

It will be interesting to see if strong hype plus all-star cast minus mixed reviews translates into box office success. This weekend, the movie is opening up against "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," which is appealing to a younger male demographic and "Eat Pray Love," which is appealing to the female demographic.
