Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon re-addressed the death of Lance Cade (Lance McNaught) in an interview on Monday after drawing heat last month when she appeared to brush off questions about Cade shortly after his death.

In a report published by the Connecticut Mirror newspaper today, McMahon's new comments show initial empathy for Cade's family before she cryptically suggests there were other issues with Cade that she's letting WWE handle.

"I think that any father or parent that's lost a child, clearly, has pain relative to that. I understand that," McMahon said Monday, responding to Lance Cade's father expressing outrage over McMahon appearing to brush aside Cade's death.

"So I understand the pain that he's feeling. I do believe there is more that can be known relative to Lance. I'm letting WWE deal with those issues."

Also in the story, McMahon tried to downplay her WWE background and whether it affects how Connecticut voters view her as she campaigns for Senator.

"I'm not really questioned and pushed very much on the negative aspects of, you know, a scripted soap opera," she said. "It's the difference between being something that's entertaining and scripted versus real life issues."

The Connecticut Mirror's report also focuses on the lack of campaigning by Democratic Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal against McMahon.

"I'm not going to talk about that," Blumenthal said Monday regarding whether he'll go after McMahon related to WWE health and wellness issues. "That's about all I'm going to say right now."

Meanwhile, McMahon's spokesman, Ed Patru, characterized Blumenthal's campaign strategy as "trying to run out the clock" by holding onto his poll lead and not campaigning too hard before the November election.

Blumenthal's campaign manager, Mindy Myers, took a different approach than Blumenthal's no-comment, establishing the tone of a potential campaign strategy as they close in on the November 2 election date.

"There is a clear choice between Dick Blumenthal, who has fought tirelessly for the people of Connecticut, and a Linda McMahon who has put profits before people," she said.

Caldwell's Analysis: There's tremendous irony with McMahon's last quote on "scripted vs. real life issues," as the "real life issues" voters should be examining from McMahon's only professional experience includes a high mortality rate among wrestlers - the employee-like independent contractors - and the increased likelihood of addiction issues exacerbated by WWE's hard lifestyle with no off-season. The McMahons creating a "global empire" out of a regional promotion, creating jobs in Connecticut, etc. that her campaign has been promoting is only part of the story from her business experience.
