ROH announced today that their first set of television tapings for HDNet will take place on Feb. 28 and March 1 at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia. Tickets for the first set of taping are already on sale. The company plans to announce shortly when they will be selling tickets for the March 1 taping. ROH will also be holding a DVD taping on Feb. 27 in Danbury, Conn.

RADICAN'S ANALYSIS

The Arena is a good choice for a venue to tape for television. The venue has an entrance way and video screens, which look better on DVD than most venues ROH runs DVD and PPVs tapings in.

If ROH is going to tape several shows in the span of a weekend, my top choices for venues would be The Arena, The Hammerstein Ballroom, and the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago. All of the other markets ROH runs tapings in look too similar and these market give the company the best chance to come across the best in post-production.

I hope ROH doesn't go the route of TNA and run every show in the same venue. It looks like they are going to sell tickets to these events, so I would say it's more than likely shows will be taped in different markets to ensure fans continue to support the tapings.

There are still a ton of unanswered questions about how the product on television is going to fit into the DVD series the company sells on its website. The PPV tapings have already disrupted the continuity of the shows, so I hope the television tapings don't further those issues.

The booking issues still remain a question mark as well. Hopefully someone resumes full control of the product for television tapings. The company needs someone with experience in the role as they enter the television market.

I would anticipate that these tapings would heavily push fans towards buying DVDs and ordering PPVs. How effective the television is going to be in bringing new fans to the product remains to be seen.
