Ring of Honor wrestler Kenny Omega says he quit WWE's developmental program in 2006 after having a tough experience with politics and back-stabbers trying to get in WWE's good graces. Omega says he didn't want to be in that environment.

"Everybody there was just trying to kiss ass and was willing to stab you in the back just to elevate their own career," Omega tells Slam Wrestling. "It just wasn't the environment I wanted to be in."

Omega says the experience in WWE's now-defunct Deep South Wrestling territory nearly killed his passion for the business. He says he learned a few things about himself, though.

"It didn't take long for me to realize that I really wasn't in it for the money and it started to feel like a dead end job or a chore," Omega said. "It took the fun and purpose out of my life a lot of the time, because you really have no friends in the wrestling business."

Omega wrestles full-time for ROH now, but he became a stand-out performer on the independent circuit wrestling for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in California. Omega and Bryan Danielson recently had a stand-out comedy/serious match on PWG's April 12 show that everyone was talking about afterward.

Omega says he takes pride in having a variety of different wrestling styles and he enjoys working for ROH where he can showcase his abilities.

"I'm happy that I'm given the opportunity to show a different wrestling style to the fans," Omega said. "ROH caters more towards fans who want more bang for their buck. ... ROH fans come to the shows, expecting great matches and that's exactly what they get. ROH does not try to insult anybody's intelligence."
