In his latest MySpace blog, former Ring of Honor booker Gabe Sapolsky tells a story about Jim Cornette's wrestling knowledge to help a key angle in ROH a few years ago. Sapolsky says Cornette helped put the ROH vs. CZW faction warfare feud over the top with his input.

"Cornette made everyone around him better. I always felt that was his true value," Sapolsky said on why he booked Cornette for many ROH shows. "He is an unselfish teacher, an encyclopedia of knowledge and brings experience that is impossible to attain these days."

ROH was planning the blow-off angle for the ROH vs. CZW feud with a Cage of Death match. They needed one major moment involving current TNA wrestler Homicide. Sapolsky says Cornette gave them a trick using exploding pinewood he picked up from Memphis to generate a huge reaction from the crowd.

"We still each had a little doubt. Would this old Memphis trick work in front of a smart crowd of bloodthirsty fans?," Sapolsky said about Homicide and his feelings. "Homicide lifted the piece of pine and smashed it down with all his force on Eddie Kingston's head. The fans reached a heightened state of emotional ecstasy fueled by the satisfaction of complete visual violence. It was like a bomb went off as the wood splintered through the air. It worked."

Sapolsky says it's the first and only time he's seen the pinewood trick work. He says similar stories, insight, and knowledge are inside Cornette's new book, "The Midnight Express 25th Anniversary Scrapbook," which is receiving considerable buzz for its historical value.
