Mick Foley says the breaking point during his WWE announcing gig was Vince McMahon's constant screaming in his headset, including one specific day when he felt 12 years of service to WWE went down the drain.

"I told Vince that had he treated me like that in '96 or at any time over the last 12 years, it wouldn't have come as such a shock," Foley told Mike Mooneyham on McMahon's screaming becoming too much. "But those were magic headsets ... all the respect I had earned over the past 12 years just kind of disappeared."

He adds that he was at a point in his wrestling career when he was reflective and didn't want to see his career end in misery. "Within a few weeks I realized that it would be part of the job and that I had to make a decision as to whether I found that acceptable," Foley said.

Foley continued: "At the same time I'm really thankful that I tried it. I hate to sit back and wonder 'what if' about anything. That whole experience gave me the permission to make this move to TNA without any guilt forever."

When TNA approached him when he was struggling to handle McMahon screaming in his headset, Foley says he no longer felt guilt over possibly leaving WWE after the company helped him become a multi-level wrestling star.

"When TNA called and convinced me that I would have a chance to really make a difference, and that if I was happy there I could be a big part of the future of the company, I became every enthusiastic about the possibilities," he said. "It's a relief to go out there and realize that I'm going to be able to say things I want to say and that my opinion will be valued and a lot of the ideas I have will actually see the light of day."

Caldwell's Analysis: There is nothing in Foley's interview or in his words that specifically points to what TNA can bring to the wrestling table to compete as a major national wrestling company. What wrestler would he like to be involved in a storyline with? Who are some young talents that can become household names? Is he looking forward to working with Joe or Styles? Would he like to give creative input to the writers?

Like Kevin Nash's interview earlier this week, it sounds like Foley just wanted the convenience of TNA, but isn't really focused on something specific or tangible that he could help with. Foley made a decision for himself to benefit himself, which he has the right to at this point in his career.

However, it's obvious through what Foley isn't saying that there isn't a specific plan for how Foley is going to help TNA become a national powerhouse in wrestling. It's pie-in-the-sky, abstract talk without any substance right now. And that captures a TNA company that gives the appearance of being about talk, not substance.
