TNA World Hvt. champion Kurt Angle said in a cover story interview with Fitness RX Magazine that he hopes he doesn't have to choose between wrestling for TNA and working movies full-time.

Angle is on the cover of the September issue of Fitness RX, which I found at a Walgreen's drugstore but not a Barnes & Noble bookstore. The fitness magazine focused on his recent training for an MMA role in "The Warrior" movie that is slated for release in early 2010.

Angle said he grew out his hair and his facial hair for the role and also dropped 25 pounds from his normal pro wrestling weight. Angle said he also went through intense MMA training "doing several hours" of sparring per day during the film shoot to prepare for the role, which was to be an authentic fighter.

During the movie shoot, Angle had two separate fight scenes. His first scene was a one-round MMA fight that he said took eight hours to film. He said the second fight scene was a three-round bout that he said took "the better part of two days" to film. Angle credited the pre-fight training for allowing him to complete the filming because of how much effort was required.

Angle also has another movie, "Dead of Night," coming out in early 2010. He said he has a passion for making movies and he thanked TNA president Dixie Carter for allowing him to mix wrestling with movies.

Angle said he eventually wants to own his movie production company and call the shots on what types of movies to produce and film. He said he enjoys doing "big budget" films and smaller, independent films, such as the "End Game" independent film he made with Jenna Morasca.

Angle emphasized the point that he hopes he doesn't have to choose between the two professions. He was asked about why he didn't pursue a profession as a legit MMA fighter. Angle said he had the choice between WWE and UFC when he finished the Olympics in 1996, but he chose WWE since UFC didn't seem to be going anywhere at the time.

Angle said his body is too physically damaged and he's too old to become a competitive MMA fighter. He thanked UFC president Dana White for always "being good to me."

Caldwell's Analysis: The actual magazine spread was four-to-five pages with shots of Angle in the gym training and working out hard. They included graphics of his typical work-outs, including Angle describing his anti-gravity machine that he tries to use every day to work out his aching joints. Article is a good read and worth picking up, even though there wasn't any major news from Angle.
