TNA wrestler Kevin Nash says he would never take a booking position in TNA because it's a 24-hour job and he doesn't want the stress at his age. He said he wouldn't even be motivated to clear his name as a booker from his time writing WCW TV during Monday Night Wars.

"My answer is this. I have a 13-year-old son who needs a father way more than TNA needs a booker," Nash told Alfonso Castillo of Newsday. "I don’t do anything half-assed. If you put me in there, it means I’m thinking about it 24/7. You have to, because when you’re lying there in the sun, you get an idea and it’s like, 'God, that’s way better than I thought.' And you’ve got to get up and you’ve got to write it down. And you’ve got to change in and so on."

Nash said he's good friends with Vince Russo, who had to take a crappy situation at the Victory Road PPV and make a sandwich. Nash said after the Jarrett-Angle political fall-out, Russo was left trying to fix everything, which led to one of the worst PPVs of the year.

"The situation that happened (Jarrett being sent home) where kind of right before the pay-per-view, some political things go down, and he’s left with a show with a bunch of gaps in it and he’s got to do his best to fill it," Nash said. "And those are the things that take years off your life. And at this point, right now, like what we talked about earlier – I’m closer to dying. So, I don’t need the stress and they can’t put enough zeros at the end of my paycheck."

Nash said he's seen progress with TNA's booking, as the promotion has zeroed in on the core demo that watches their show. He famously criticized TNA's booking in a Torch Talk with Wade Keller back in 2005 when he said Dusty Rhodes sitting in the back of a pick-up truck booking matches appealed to the wrong demo.

"It was like one of those moments in your life when you just rub your eyes. You’re told that you’re in like the 27 largest metropolitan areas in the country, and you’ve got Dusty [Rhodes] cutting promos on the back of a pickup truck with a bail of hay," Nash said. "We’re kind of in an urban environment and our boss is cutting promos on a hay bail."

Related to his stint as WCW booker in the late '90s, Nash claimed he had no chance to succeed and he doesn't feel the need to vindicate himself in TNA. He said when he had absolute control, people tried to sabotage his good work. He also blamed Hulk Hogan for contributing to the WCW mess.

"Nine guys who had creative control who could come in at 7:30, like Hulk, who’d go, 'It doesn’t work for me, brother.' Oh, great. Let me rewrite nine segments," Nash said. "I look at that and say, anybody who was there, I did the best I could. It wasn’t like I had complete control."
