Jason Powell broke news tonight that TNA released agents Jim Cornette and B.G. James on Tuesday. For details on the politics of what led to it and the possible replacements, please visit the source of the original story: Dot Net TNA News: Two major cuts made behind the scenes

Keller's Analysis: It's also interesting that this story broke first on ProWrestling.net. When I saw the story, I checked other sites to see who deserved credit, and Powell was the only one with the story among those who break news regularly. Then a few minutes later, another site that breaks its fair share of stories on a regular basis, had the same story with a timestamp back-timed to "beat" Powell's report. That's the second time I've seen that happen. Such is the competitive nature of this business, I suppose! Anyway, as for the story itself, I had heard B.G. was on the bubble for falling asleep at inopportune times while on duty.

As for Cornette, it probably helps his reputation that he finally had enough of Vince Russo and stood up to him recently. The fact that Cornette is so apt to stand up for his beliefs and not easily suffer those whom he deems fools, it seemed increasingly odd he was able to survive in Russo's presence. As Powell pointed out in his analysis, without Jeff Jarrett around to play mediator, it's no surprise they could no longer co-exist.

What will be interesting to watch is if the remote possibility becomes reality of Jim Ross becoming a top executive with TNA, and whether Cornette is then brought back to replace Russo, who certainly would not be a likely person to remain head booker under a Ross regime. But as I say in recent months as I've talked about this, we're getting ahead of ourselves because Ross is more likely to stick with WWE as a Smackdown announcer for another year. He's acknowledged, though, he's in the midst of negotiations for a new contract (he signs one year at a time lately) and did not categorically rule out working for TNA when asked by a reader of his blog.

APP USERS: Download the ProWrestling.net free App from the iTunes store to gain access to this story and all of Powell's reports and commentaries on pro wrestling (he breaks a lot of stories). Powell is a former Pro Wrestling Torch assistant editor full time from 1997-2003 who since worked full time for Fantasy Football Weekly magazine and Fanball as an editor (while still writing part-time for PWTorch), then launched ProWrestling.net as his own business two years ago. His App was developed by the same company that did ours and is also free. Just search "prowrestling" (one word) and it'll pop right up.
