During a tag team match at the Impact tapings tonight, Brother Ray gave Chris Sabin a Bubba Bomb that knocked Sabin out. Sabin didn't kick out as he was supposed to do, but the ref stopped his count at two. The match continued with Ray picking Sabin up and tagging in Devon who then gorilla pressed Sabin seconds later.
Nash watched this backstage and was concerned for Sabin. He felt the match should have been stopped immediately since Sabin wasn't responsive to the pin count, and he made his feelings clear as he went on a tirade in the production truck. He focused primarily on Terry Taylor. He said something to the effect that what just happened is an example of what's wrong with the company and "nobody around here has the balls to make the call to stop a match to protect a wrestler." He said he should be running the company because at least he "has a set," or something along those lines.
He later went out and cut a promo as scheduled, but referenced what happened earlier in the course of the promo, going off script, before reciting his scripted promo. He then left the taping early.
Sabin suffered what is believed to be a concussion. He was knocked out briefly in the ring and the initial fear was he might have been paralyzed given how he landed on the move. There was said to be a gasp from fans who saw it and immediate concern backstage among wrestlers watching on the monitor.
Keller's Analysis: There is no word of a heated Nash-Brother Ray confrontation, but sources say they did have a civil discussion afterward. Nash's case was that someone should have made the call, and that those with the best view were in the truck and they should have sent word to the referee to stop the match immediately. Ray does have a rep for being stiff with wrestlers and taking liberties with younger wrestlers, but there's no accusations he has any malice toward Sabin nor that he was being intentionally reckless or careless. Nevertheless, once it happened, wrestlers are surprised he didn't stop the match and be sure Sabin was safe before moving him. I'll have more on this later.
