TNA Knockout Daffney spoke to IGN.com about current TNA topics, which yielded a nutty interview centered on Daffney's off-the-wall personality and wrestling character while also shedding light on TNA's handling of concussions - one of the most important topics in pro wrestling of this era. It's a bizarre, yet highly-entertaining interview worth reading.

Daffney says TNA has held her out of the ring or tried to protect her from taking bumps since she suffered what she called a Grade II concussion at the Bound for Glory PPV in October 2008 when she took a fall through thumbtacks.

"People were all 'she broke her arm, she broke her arm' and I thought 'I might have hurt my arm, but I hit my head even worse.' I knocked my noggin. Yeah, I had a Grade II concussion. Wow. And so they've been really good at protecting me," Daffney said.

Daffney said she doesn't know when she will return to a regular wrestling schedule, but she's happy to play Dr. Stevie's sidekick patient while she fully recovers from the concussion.

"They're always very good, and they've been giving me some Xplosion matches lately. And in the battle royal, they had me out first to protect my head. They gave me a web match with Traci Brooks," Daffney said. "So maybe that's why, as of late – since that happened - they've been more focused on me hanging out and not wrestling because they really wanted to protect my head. I was knocked loopy. But I'm already loopy so I'm not sure how to say it. I was knocked more loopy? More loopier?"

Caldwell's Analysis: This is one of the few documented cases of a wrestler going on the record to talk about a promotion protecting him or her from the effects of a concussion. WWE has a policy, but we don't see too many interviews by wrestlers or press releases from WWE describing the promotion's application of the policy. Kudos to TNA for protecting Daffney in this case. TNA just needs to establish a consistent approach to head blows. Ttheir monthly PPVs continue to feature regular chair shots to the head, especially in Team 3D's matches. I believe the unofficial line for Team 3D vs. the Nastys at the Genesis PPV on Sunday is 3.5 chair shots to the head.
