Jerry Lynn, who currently wrestles for Ring of Honor and was scheduled for the main event of TNA's Hardcore Justice PPV earlier this month, says he has a ruptured disc in his vertebrae that could lead to surgery.

Lynn recalled to Brian Fritz on Fanhouse.com that he suffered the injury training for his PPV match against Rob Van Dam. He said it wasn't physically possible for him to wrestle.

"Basically, my body just told me there was no way. I could hardly put any weight on my left leg. There's numbness and sharp pain shooting through my thigh," he said. "There's just no way. I could barely walk let alone go have an actual match."

Lynn is currently waiting for an August 25 appointment with a neurosurgeon to decide whether to have surgery. "The neurosurgeon said we'd have to wait a few weeks to see if the swelling and everything goes down and if the chunk of disc will stop hitting the nerves or not," he said. "If not, I'll have to have surgery and get that piece removed."

As for his future in pro wrestling, Lynn said he hopes to wrestle again if the damage to his back can be repaired.

"I knew there would come a day when my body couldn't do it anymore. I just didn't think it would be so soon," he said. "If everything goes well and I can get healed up and back wrestling again, if TNA will let it happen ... I talked to Rob and he would still like to do it again sometime and I would so as long as all the parties involved would let it happen, it will happen again."
