ECW TV Report
October 30, 2007 in Long Island, N.Y.
Year 2, Week 21 (Week 73 overall) on Sci-Fi

They have the Big Man Battle Royale tonight with V, Kane, Khali, and Henry. Also, Morrison vs. Miz in a #1 Contender match, with the winner facing Punk for the belt next week. They have a Halloween-themed set tonight.

Elijah Burke walked out for a match and they plugged his appearance on Ghost Hunters. Jimmy Wang Yang showed up from Smackdown to wrestle him. Burke took a mic and said one thing he can't stand are working class people like Yang. And that was it. Ring the bell.

1 -- ELIJAH BURKE vs. JIMMY WANG YANG

Burke knocked Wang to the floor in the opening minute and Yang disappeared into the smoke emitting from ringside. Back in the ring, Burke landed a shoulder breaker for a nearfall. He went to the corner for a high risk move, but Yang met him square in the mouth with a spin kick in mid-air. After scoring a nearfall, Yang missed with a top rope moonsault, then Burke shoved him shoulder-first into the ringpost. Burke followed with the Elijah Express double knee strike to the back for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Burke in 5:00. Not a bad match. Good action throughout, but it's a match-up where it would be nice to see it go a full ten minute segment to start the show. (*)

They aired a Mobile Exclusive of Kane cutting a promo on the big man battle royale. Those mobile subscribers must be feeling really used right about now.

[Commercial Break]

The Raw Rebound aired, focusing on Michaels reuniting with Triple H to fend off Orton and Umaga.

[Q2]

Backstage, Nunzio held court with a bunch of kids. They went trick or treating backstage. Balls Mahoney emerged from behind a cage door and handed out some candy. C.M. Punk was behind a "Keep Out" door and he handed out some candy to everyone. Punk said he's dressed up as ECW champion and he's about to have a match. Nunzio said he's supposed to be Dracula. They came to a Beware door and the door swung upon by itself. And, since he's still in the intro video, Boogeyman emerged with his ring entrance music and red lighting. He scared off Nunzio, then handed out some candy and ate worms.

[Commercial Break]

2 -- NUNZIO "DRACULA" vs. TOMMY "PAUL HEYMAN" DREAMER -- Extreme Rules Trick or Treat match

Tommy Dreamer came out as Paul Heyman and the announcers had to play dumb on who Dreamer was trying to be. Before the match started, they focused on Misty caught in a rat trap. Styles and Tazz talked Yankee baseball and made more bad humor about who Dreamer was dressed as. Nunzio took Dreamer to the floor, then tried to hit a splash, but Dreamer side stepped him. He then picked up a pumpkin and smashed Nunzio. This turned into a food fight ringside, then Nunzio slipped on some whipped cream and crashed to the floor. Dreamer proceeded to dump Nunzio's head in the bucket of apples before dumping the water on himself. The announcers continued to play dumb on Heyman, then Dreamer pulled out a giant cell phone, ala Heyman in the early '90s in WCW. Dreamer then dropkicked the bucket into Nunzio's head with a basement dropkick. He followed with a spike DDT for the win.

WINNER: Dreamer in 3:00. Dumb announcers, a silly concept, and Nunzio acting weird made this quite weird. (1/2*)

They aired a video package on Khali. He's a Leviathan creature, the voice over man said. I didn't realize he ate Batista.

[Q3]

[Commercial Break]

They aired a video package hyping WWE's High School Reunion with DX and Steve Austin on Raw for one night only next Monday.

They showed video from last night when Kelly Kelly won the divas battle royale, only to have Beth Phoenix smash her after the match.

3 -- THE MIZ vs. JOHN MORRISON -- #1 Contender match

Morrison landed repeated slaps, but missed with a springboard back kick. Miz then connected with a running clothesline in the corner for a nearfall. Miz went for the Reality Check, but Morrison countered with a roll up for a nearfall. Miz then landed a clothesline, but walked into a corkscrew neckbreaker from Morrison for the win.

WINNER: Morrison in 4:00. Another short TV match. They apparently don't trust the mid-carders on Raw or ECW to deliver anything of substance in the ring. (3/4*)

They aired a video package on the man beast devouring the meat of lesser prey in his jungle. Henry fears no man and welcomes only the strong to his jungle.

[Commercial Break]

[Q4]

Video package on Big Daddy V, who is the most dominant force in ECW history, according to the voice-over man. V knows no remorse. He's another man beast. John Morrison was ringside with Styles and Tazz to add color commentary to Punk's match.

4 -- ECW champion C.M. PUNK vs. JAMES CURTIS -- non-title match

Before the match started, Punk stared down at Morrison. Morrison name dropped Abyss, but in a metaphorical manner referring to the opposite of heaven. Punk worked on Curtis and Morrison questioned the choice of opponent tonight. Punk continued to dominate and nailed a springboard clothesline before landing the Go 2 Sleep for the easy win. No challenge or heat here. Afterward, Morrison quickly jumped into the ring and nailed a corkscrew neckbreaker on Punk. Styles and Tazz were amazed at how quickly Morrison flew into the ring after the bell sounded.

WINNER: Punk in 2:00. Just a match. The feud needs more bite for anyone to care about the latest go around between these two. (1/2*)

[Commercial Break]

Great Khali was in the ring with translator dude for the battle royale. Everyone else made their ring entrances.

[Q5 -- over-run]

5 -- BIG DADDY V (w/Matt Striker) vs. KANE vs. GREAT KHALI (w/Translator) vs. MARK HENRY -- Battle Royale

The heels tried to gang up on Kane, but they broke down and started fighting. Henry and V battled bellies before landing dual clotheslines in center ring. The fans were growing restless with the slooooooow pace of the action. V then missed with a corner splash and Kane dumped him over the top rope to the floor. Ouch. Khali had enough and tried to apply the Claw, but Kane and Henry double team clotheslined him to the floor. So, it's Henry and Kane. Henry caught Kane coming off the top and tossed him over the top rope to the floor to win.

WINNER: Henry in 5:00. Quite the snoozer, unless you're into that sort of thing. (n/a)
