There were zero flaws with this week's ECW TV show. Even Kozlov's squash match was perfectly fine to re-establish him on his new brand. How can you top a near-20-minute match between John Morrison and Evan Bourne, as well as an exciting main event between Christian, Finlay, and Tommy Dreamer? ECW delivered nearly 25 minutes of wrestling action with approximately 42 minutes of TV time minus commercials. That's called more bang for your buck.
Morrison vs. Bourne was an excellent TV match that would contend for Best Match of the Month in April if Taker vs. HBK didn't happen. WWE has apparently forgotten about HBK-Taker anyways, so perhaps WWE would consider Bourne-Morrison the best match of the month. Morrison really stood out as a solo singles competitor, while it was great to see Bourne bust out some thrusts and striking offense to balance his aerial attack. Excellent opening match.
The main event triple threat match was a strong match with all three men in peril near the end to create an exciting finish. Good booking for a triple threat match, and Dreamer had enough offense to have his "out" after taking the loss and being set back another week in his Quest for the ECW Title. Christian vs. Finlay on Superstars should be a fine match to set up the Backlash PPV match against Jack Swagger. Look at that, actual build-up for an ECW Title match on PPV. Great night for the ECW brand.

The purpose of this show is to give some acts that are not as experienced on a national level, the chance to gain some experience and some national exposure without the pressure of being on Raw or Smackdown. This episode of ECW highlighted two of the real up and coming talent in the opening match between Evan Bourne and John Morrison. This was a great TV match and both of these guys could be in the main event mix in a couple of years. A squash is a perfectly acceptable way to debut Koslov on ECW. The main event was a decent triple threat match and logically builds to a match to determine the number 1 contender for the ECW Title and also gives viewers a reason to watch the new Superstars show.

I really, really wanted to give ECW above a 7-something tonight. On the strength of that Bourne-Morrison match, it deserved it. They were allowed to go almost twenty minutes, and put on the best TV match I've seen in quite some time. Morrison showed off some impressive mat skill, and Bourne had just the tiniest flash of a mean streak. Excellent showing by both. The Kozlov squash worked for me, because as I said in my report on the show, his program with HHH took him back a few steps, so he has to get built back up to credibility again.
The only reason I couldn't rate the show anything more than "meh" tonight was due to the triple threat main event. The match just never got rolling, Christian wasn't even in most of it and it just set up for Finlay to wrestle Christian again in two days. Look this show up online if you didn't see it, though, just for Morrison and Bourne throwing it down.

I took one point off each for the Kozlov squash (I've seen enough of his squashes on Smackdown to last me a lifetime, and I'm sure the viewers on ECW know what he's about since there should be few to no viewers who ONLY watch ECW) and for Finlay being in the final spot to determine a challenger to Jack Swagger. I thought it was odd Henry was eliminated first, leaving all faces, but at least Dreamer has a storyline to build off. Finlay's a fine role player, but I don't like him in the main event role, even if it is an ECW main event.
What can you say about Bourne vs. Morrison? They simply brought it. It's the kind of match I fear ending up in some higher-up's hands in WWE, lest they determine this isn't "main event style" enough and ask the guys to tone it down. The main event was also a solid match with a unique stipulation that made things a bit more interesting.
