I liked this show. There were some really terrible moments on the show, but those could be laughed off and written up as classic TNA goofiness. This week, that kind of stuff didn't bother me like it usually does. I just laughed and moved on. Best example is the A.J. Styles promo, which was just terribly written. One of the worst promos in the history of wrestling. Heel announcer Don West summed it up best that everyone is tired about Styles "pulling himself up by his boot straps" and becoming a wrestling star. I just don't care about that. Give me something real about Styles.
Mick Foley was the star of the show and he really delivered in his role of building up all this hype for the Vince McMahon special - a truly "reprehensible" DVD clip of Jeff Jarrett getting pounded. Mick's facial expressions in the ring while watching himself on the video pounding Jeff were so classic and great. "Wait, that's me!" Good stuff and it built up to Jeff Jarrett's return next week for revenge. For the Jarrett-haters, Don West provided plenty of great lines to rip the ludicrous babyface booking on this show. West really makes the crap on this show more easily digestable. It's a skill.
The build-up to the Suicide reveal was well done for the third straight week. Nice program. Only problem is...there's no match for the X Division Title at the PPV. Oops, forgot about that one. Of course, TNA will reveal a five-way title match on next week's show, but too late to make anyone care about a match when TNA is just going to throw it out there three days before the PPV. I hate to rip that because I really do like what they're doing with the Suicide/Guns/Daniels/Lethal Consequences program.
Kevin Nash looked terribly sick on the way to the ring. Match against No Limit was a joke. It also sucks that TNA is just throwing out Samoa Joe vs. Nash without any build-up. Announcers didn't even bother to discuss the match during Nash's match. They were scripted to be too busy pissing and moaning, Tenay especially. I would hate to be a babyface in TNA because Tenay comes across so whiny and annoying trying to back the babyfaces. Ick.

There were a couple things I didn't like about the show, but the rest was tolerable. Number one was that backstage attack on 3D- it was monumentally bad. Like, I thought I was watching a pro wrestling parody there. First it was Bubba gently falling to the floor like he was an old man wading into a warm bath, then it was the lamest briefcase shot of all time on Bubba, which he sold by screaming like he was shot. Yikes. I was less than thrilled to see Cute Kip back on my TV and Nash squashing Team No Limit wasn't great.
I didn't like the Jeff Jarrett videos to start, but when it built to Mick Foley attacking him, I changed my mind. Yeah, it pushed Jarrett again as a family man and was probably more than we needed, but the intrigue was built to see what he'd do next week. The tag tournament shows promise and it's one of the things I'm liking about TNA at this point.

We got the old bait-and-switch from TNA this evening in the form of a "brutal" video from Mick Foley. The disturbing film promised to us was nothing more than a backstage beat down that we've all seen hundreds of times on wrestling TV. There was no storyline bombshell or major announcement, just a standard "face in peril" attack we have become accustomed to. A storyline with Jarrett and Foley fighting for control over TNA could make for some intriguing television, but TNA so far has yet to deliver anything close to riveting in the battle between the two.
The mid-card took some nice steps tonight. The tag tournament is finalized, with one week left to hopefully hype the finals before the PPV. The British Invasion stable has some potential, however, Beer Money seems the logical choice to win it all as their feud with 3D has not concluded. The Daniels/Suicide segments have had some good segments on the shows in the past. Daniels and Suicide in the ring at the same time may signal the end to the story, but I would like to see The Guns, Lethal and Creed continue on their quest to find out who Suicide is as it would seem illogical for them to simply give up after realizing it's not Daniels.
Once again tonight, I was pleasantly surprised with Don West's commentary. What was once a sore thumb for the TNA product has turned into a positive as West has been great with his heel persona. Although the bickering with Mike Tenay can get on ones nerves, a heel persona turned out to be a much needed addition to the announcing team. The little jabs and insults he delivers throughout the show are done well and don't seem like a line he's forced to say after hearing it in his earpiece.
