NWA Charlotte TV report
May 22, 2009
Taped April 25 at "Disorderly Conduct" event
Report by Cody Endres, PWTorch contributor

-Announcer Tim Dixon opened the show from the NWA Charlotte Coliseum. This show features matches from the 4/25/09 event where the fire and police departments showed up for a safety inspection after a 911 call regarding unsafe conditions. Due to the circumstances, there were only five matches on the show. NWA Charlotte will now be moving to the Charlotte Metrolina Expo building for their future shows on 5/23/09 and 5/30/09. Tonight's main event features Dixon's usual broadcast partner, Lodi, taking on Raven.

1 -- CHANCE PROPHET & BRANDON PHOENIX vs. NEW WAVE (Steven Walters & Derek Driver)

Dixon stated that the team of Prophet and Phoenix are making their NWA Charlotte debut. New Wave gets the crowd applauding for them early on. Prophet head butts the turnbuckle in frustration. Walters and Prophet trade holds to start. Driver tags in and New Wave hits double back elbows. New Wave dominate Prophet for a short while, but Prophet rakes the eyes of Driver and tags in Phoenix. Phoenix connects with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Both heels work over Driver with chin locks. Phoenix with a nasty roundhouse kick to Driver's face. Driver makes the hot tag to Walters. Walters goes bananas on the heel team including a cross body off the top rope onto Phoenix for a nearfall. New Wave hits double dropkicks on Phoenix & Prophet. New Wave isolates Prophet and hits double enziguris and their finishing maneuver Point Break (a double Code Breaker) for the win.

WINNERS: New Wave in 8:38. Respectable tag team action.

-The lights went out and a spotlight focused on Raven in the crow's nest of the building. He called Lodi a traitor for turning on him. "If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you betray us, will we not revenge?" Raven said Lodi has the support of the fans, but he supported him first. He said he found Lodi, he made Lodi, and he'll be the one to break him. Raven said it would be a sad sorry state of affairs for Lodi and his fans tonight. After tonight, Lodi will come crawling back to him like a dog. Raven said he was Lodi's owner and that his three Rottweilers show more loyalty and respect than Lodi. Quote the Raven, nevermore. Awesome promo.

2 – RAVEN vs. LODI – Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match

A bunch of weapons are suspended above the ring for this match. Raven entered first and sat in the corner. Lodi came out with his "Lodi Rulz" sign and sat in another corner of the ring, mocking Raven. Raven grabbed the mic and said he was giving Lodi the opportunity to bow before him and forfeit the match.

Lodi hits a clothesline to start the match and Raven immediately ducks to the outside. Raven takes control and hits Lodi repeatedly with a trash can. Lodi comes up bleeding. Raven whips him into the ring steps. Raven grabs a chain and chokes Lodi with it. The former Johnny Polo grabs a computer keyboard and smacks Lodi with it, sending keys flying everywhere. Raven places a cooking pot over Lodi's head and slaps it a few times. Lots of interesting weapons here. Raven hits his signature Russian leg sweep and sets up an ironing board in the corner. Lodi reverses the Irish whip and sends Raven crashing into the board. On the outside, Lodi assaults Raven with the trashcan. Raven is now bleeding. Raven counters Lodi's offense with a kick to the crotch. Both men brawl around the coliseum and up into the crow's nest. Raven hooks in a sleeper hold, but Lodi leaps off the ledge. They both fly off and land on a gathering of referees and NWA security guards. Back in the ring, Raven sets a table up in the corner. Lodi fires back with some clotheslines and a knee lift. Lodi with a running bulldog for a nearfall. Raven grabs a chair and hits Lodi with it twice. Raven attempts to spear Lodi thru the table, but Lodi ducks out of the way sending Raven crashing into the wood. Lodi quickly executes a DDT in the middle of the ring for the victory.

WINNER: Lodi in 10:12. Solid garbage match.
