NWA Charlotte TV report
June 6, 2009
Taped May 23 at "Total Compliance" event
Report by Cody Endres, PWTorch contributor

Full show is available at digitaltuxedo.com.

-Announcers Tim Dixon and Lodi opened the show. On this week's show, NWA Charlotte Heavyweight Champion Truitt Fields will be taking on NWA National Champion Phill Shatter.

-NWA Charlotte President J.D. Costello is in the ring. Costello was talking about the 911 controversy from the last show in April. Costello said he was sore with the fire department, but after meeting them he realized they have a lot of friends there. He said the Police Department and Fire Department had really helped the promotion move into their new building, the Charlotte Metrolina Expo. Costello said the promotion will do everything it can to have the fans in a safe environment. He said that the 911 tape would be played later in the show and he said he'd been told that the 911 caller was sitting in the audience tonight. NWA Charlotte Mid-Atlantic Heritage Champion Jeff Lewis interrupted. Lewis was accompanied to the ring by C.W. Anderson. Lewis and Costello bickered back and forth. Lewis said all the problems were buried between himself and Anderson. Costello said he would make Lewis defend the Heritage title at each and every show. Costello revealed that the open contract had been signed by C.W. Anderson. Lewis was shocked.

1 – JEFF LEWIS vs. C.W. ANDERSON – NWA Charlotte Mid-Atlantic Heritage Championship Match

Anderson pummels Lewis in the corner to start the match. Anderson connects with a face wash and flashes the "CW" hand signal. Lodi said that C.W. Anderson had become a master of submission holds working in Japan so often over the past seven years. Lewis rolls to the outside for a breather. Lewis gets back in the ring and slaps Anderson across the face. Anderson works over Lewis with a variety of kicks. Lodi counts along like The Count from Sesame Street. Anderson hits the ropes and Lewis counters with a superkick. Lewis works over Anderson's arm for an extended period. Both men trade chops until Anderson takes control. Anderson hits his left haymaker punch for a nearfall. Lewis hotshots Anderson on the top rope for a nearfall. Anderson with a superkick out of nowhere for another nearfall. Anderson attempts a spinebuster, but Lewis counters it into a swinging neckbreaker. Moments later, Anderson delivers the spinebuster for the win. After the match, Costello presented Anderson with the Heritage title. Lewis entered the ring with a contract stating that the championship can only be defended in matches with a 10-minute time limit. Therefore, Jeff Lewis remains the NWA Charlotte Mid-Atlantic Heritage Champion.

WINNER: C.W. Anderson in 10:19 (announced by the promotion as 12:32). Good, hard-hitting action.

-NWA Charlotte President J.D. Costello was back in the ring and said that they would play the 911 tape at this time. Costello said the voice was distorted. The tape was played with the distorted voice. Costello said the person who did it claimed they would be in the crowd tonight. The lights in the building went out. NWA Charlotte Heavyweight Champion Truitt Fields made his way to the ring. Fields claimed he knew who made the 911 call. Fields said the person that tried to shut the company down was indeed here tonight. Fields revealed himself as the culprit. Costello and the announcers couldn't believe it. Costello asked why. Fields explained that he was the longest reigning television champion in the history of NWA Anarchy and that the fans in Georgia respected him. Fields said the people in Charlotte make him sick because they cheer for guys that are 20 years past their primes – like Lodi. Lodi stood up at the announcer's table while the people chanted for him.

Fields said unlike Lodi, Charlotte wasn't going to be the last stop for him on his road to greatness. Fields said he signed a one year contract so the fans would be seeing a lot of him. Lodi charged the ring and was held back by security. Lodi challenged Fields to a fight. Fields accepted the challenge and said he would wrestle Lodi in the main event. Apparently that match with Phill Shatter is out the window. Costello confirmed the match and made it for the NWA Charlotte Heavyweight Championship.

2 – THE AMERICAN GANGSTERS (Frank & Mickey w/Anamosity) vs. THE BRITISH LIONS (Thomas Taylor & Christopher Gray)

This is The British Lions's NWA Charlotte debut while The American Gangsters are returning from a suspension. The British Lions used to train at Florida Championship Wrestling before they were released from their WWE developmental deals. The Lions take control of the match early on. The Lions execute a double back body drop on Mickey for a nearfall. Mickey takes over the match and hits Gray with a double underhook suplex. Both of the Gangsters take turns dominating Gray. Frank hits Gray with a devastating clothesline for a nearfall. The Gangsters double team Gray in their corner. Mickey misses a splash in the corner allowing Gray to make the hot tag to Taylor. The Gangsters hit Taylor with a double team maneuver and celebrate with Anamosity. Both of the Lions sneak up behind them and schoolboy them for the double pin.

WINNERS: The British Lions in 6:29. Forgettable match. The Gangsters are very limited in the ring.

3 – TRUITT FIELDS vs. LODI – NWA Charlotte Heavyweight Championship Match

Lodi entered through the crowd with an "NWA Charlotte Rules" sign. Fields runs into the crowd and attacks Lodi as the bell rings. Announcer Tim Dixon explains that this is a No-DQ match. Both men brawl throughout the building. Back in the ring, Fields sends Lodi into a chair with a drop toe hold. Lodi comes up bleeding. Fields chokes Lodi over the second rope. Fields misses an elbow drop and Lodi rallies back with a neckbreaker. Lodi attempts a pin, but Mikael Judas jumps on the apron for the distraction. Lodi hits a DDT and attempts another cover, but Ryan 0'Reilly & Phill Shatter break up the pin. Fields follows up the interference with the Killing Fields (uranage) on Lodi for the cheap win. All the heels beat down Lodi after the match. Truitt smacks Lodi with the title belt. Ricky Steamboat Jr. & Timber run out to make the save. Fields thanks the heel group III (O'Reilly, Shatter, and Judas) for the help. O'Reilly says he only helped because he wants the title.

WINNER: Truitt Fields in 6:47 to remain NWA Charlotte Heavyweight Champion. A mess of a match, but it did a good job progressing storylines.
