This week's show was easily the best episode of the "FCW invasion" era after Swagger, Bourne, and Henry were moved to the Raw brand. Yoshi Tatsu continues to be a star on the rise, Shelton Benjamin's first night on ECW seems to be a distant memory with two straight solid singles victories, and Tyler Reks is showing progression.
My score was dragged down by another round of fat jokes against Tommy Dreamer in the main event segment building to the ECW Title match at the PPV. Dreamer and Christian had a great final confrontation at the end of the segment, but WWE continuing to feature lame, old, tired jokes from Washington took away from the PPV build. Then again, I'm not sure how much more damage WWE could have done after Dreamer and Christian took singles losses on last week's show. Yet, Kozlov wasn't plugged into the ECW Title match to make it a three-way, which made even less sense to have D & C take losses last week. Perhaps there will be a follow-up on next week's show after the PPV to make sense of this odd booking.
No Zack Ryder this week? For shame. ... I'm waiting to see what comes of Kozlov and Ezekiel having a "squash off" contest. ... Paul Burchill simply doesn't win matches. I can see this turning into one of those frustration storylines where he runs roughshod on the locker room out of frustration, but I don't believe that's going to translate into much. Meanwhile, Goldust continues to perform at a high level for his age and with his track record of issues. Bar is low for him with the Bumblebee Goldust gimmick, but I've been impressed since he was traded to ECW.

I'm pretty sure this is the third week in a row I've given the show an even six. As always, a mixed bag with this new version of ECW. Yoshi Tatsu continues to be hugely over with the fans, and I honestly think guys like him and Evan Bourne are good for this new PG WWE. Thing is, kids relate more to a smaller guy who despite being smaller than those around him can do amazing things, as opposed to guys who are jacked like monsters and cocky to boot. He's got talent too, though I hope they don't try to push him harder than he's ready for. Shelton Benjamin also looked good against Goldust, who in his own right has been strong lately. Looks like a push might be coming for Shelton.
However, there are some minuses to go with the pluses. The "Divas on Dating" segment or whatever it was served simply as blatant filler and seemed like it had just been tossed in, which to be fair it probably was. I could do without a Jackson-Kozlov feud, but it looks like at least a mini-program is in the works. The big dud, for me, was as usual the Abraham Washington show. I get they're trying to make him look better by putting talented mic guys like Christian and Tommy Dreamer (who's been awesome since winning the belt), but I just don't get why they're not jumping ship with this guy in his current gimmick. I get he's big (and supposedly better) in FCW, but this segment has single-handedly dropped the quality of this show every week since it started.

Nothing majorly wrong with the show, but nothing to get real excited about either. Yoshi vs. Regal was a good match-up of different styles than we're used to seeing on ECW (or any WWE program). I think a feud between the two would be good, and would give Regal a chance to work with and teach a younger wrestler. Zeke's squash was only interesting because of Vladimir Kozlov coming out afterward. Not sure what that was about, but I pray to God it doesn't lead to Kozlov vs. Ezekiel.
Goldust vs. Benjamin was fine, but I just don't see Goldust fitting in on this brand, as much as I'd like to. The Divas dating segment was odd.....I guess it could lead to a feud or something to do with a storyline. That's probably wishful thinking though. As much as I've campaigned for Paul Burchill, his match with Tyler Reks nearly bored me to tears thanks to the trio of chin-locks. The main event segment was OK for plugging the PPV match, but Abraham Washington just plain isn't entertaining.
