This week's Superstars felt like a "complete show." I'm not even sure what that means, but it's the phrase that keeps replaying in my head. The main event match served zero purpose in building up the PPV on Sunday, but it was a good showcase for the Smackdown brand itself with focus on an up-and-coming star, John Morrison, and a feud between Kane and Khali that is receiving focus on Smackdown. Morrison should be in a PPV match at Summerslam, so it was good to showcase him here in advance.
Christian vs. William Regal was a nice singles match to enhance Christian's title match against Tommy Dreamer at the PPV. Christian showing he could win by some other means than using the Killswitch was just fine. He spent a little too much time on the outside to where he didn't come across that credible at times, but he looked fine at the end of the day. William Regal will probably be in the title picture on ECW soon. I still think they need a secondary title to involve some other players in "important feuds" on the ECW brand. Ryder, Regal, Zeke, Reks, Sheamus, and Yoshi battling over an ECW TV Title would give the under-card a sense of purpose.
Evan Bourne was given the spotlight from the Raw brand, yet WWE booked a straight singles match between a future star and Jamie Noble, who hasn't been booked to do anything of significant value in months, if not years. Apparently smaller, under-sized wrestlers are not allowed to be booked in squash matches. I don't understand that. Match was too competitive to really enhance Bourne's character, but it was a good match nevertheless. I'll take a competitive match between Bourne and Noble every day of the week ... but only if Noble has been built up as a serious act. He hasn't been, thus making this a curious even-steven match-up with Bourne winning.

Overall, there were no real complaints with the show. Every match was solid, not great, but definitely solid. Christian and William Regal put on a good TV match. I was hoping to see some more heel tendencies from Christian like he subtly showed Tuesday night on ECW, but we didn't get that. It's hard to argue for that though because he is so over with the crowd but I'm one of "those people" thinking Christian works better as a heel and would love to see him lose Sunday, throw a tantrum, and team up with Chris Jericho. We didn't get those heel tendencies on Superstars but still, a well worked match by both.
Evan Bourne and Jamie Noble put on the type of match you'd expect from two talented guys. Both of these guys were big-time stars in ROH and they showed why. Bourne will probably get the push that Noble never has and probably never will. It's a shame because both of these guys can work and it showed with this match.
Kane and Morrison was better than I expected. Since Kane has returned, he has looked a lot better than he was before he left. He looks rejuvenated and worked really well with Morrison. Even the post-match melee with Kane and Khali came off looking strong. Personally, I still feel that not many people care about Khali but the crowd popped big time when he chased Kane from the ring. Maybe I'm wrong but I'll let time prove me either correct or incorrect on this one.

Two real good matches and a Kane match....still, an easy thumbs-up. Christian and Regal worked well together and Regal has such an interesting style that you don't see much, it's a real treat when someone can go toe-to-toe with him and his manner of wrestling. I just wish they'd give Regal a run at the title on ECW, whether Christian wins or Dreamer retains.
Bourne vs. Noble was another good match, and I was surprised these guys got so long in the ring. I'm not going to complain about it, even though Bourne is portrayed as a much bigger star. I just sat back and enjoyed watching the rarity of two small guys go at it, again, wrestling a style that not many in WWE can do thanks to the size factor. Kane vs. Morrison was fine, but as a back-drop for Great Khali's run in....not so much.
