Nice, physical episode of ECW TV this week. William Regal and Tommy Dreamer capped off the show nicely with a five-minute match. I have no idea why they didn't turn this into a #1 contender match to have something on the line instead of just announcing Regal as the new #1 contender based on credentials unknown to the audience, but it was a good main event nevertheless.

Apparently the entire point of the Abraham Washington show is to watch him get his comeuppance on a weekly basis. Christian did a fine job doing the talking as the babyface champion. ... The crowd was hot for The Hurricane's return, which is a good sign going forward. The crowd was hot for Yoshi wrestling, which is a good sign that he's already being recognized as a star on the ECW brand. The crowd was not hot for Tyler Reks, though. WWE needs to go to work developing his character.

I do not understand Shelton Benjamin's babyface turn. Where did it come from? He was presented as a babyface to the TV audience, but I almost got the sense the Edmonton crowd was trying to "Bizzaroworld" cheer Shelton, not realizing WWE actually turned him babyface at some point in time not yet recorded or made aware to the rest of the world. Just the oddest thing. Zack Ryder taking a quick loss was sad to see, but at least he had offense to remain somewhat credible. This match-up needed about ten more minutes.

Decent show this week. The major highlight for me was the Dreamer-Regal match, both because it was a sound main event mat match and because it denotes Regal getting an actual push into the main event. Also, Christian once again saved an Abraham Washington skit. I don't know who in WWE thought promoting the show using Washington on Raw earlier this week was a good idea. They really need to repackage him or cut bait.

Ryder and Benjamin both looked strong, though I still don't know when Shelton became a face. I'm not complaining, but they were going for MAJOR heel heat upon his debut, only to totally turn around without warning. Last note: I'm really psyched The Hurricane is back. As far as WWE-PG goes, he's a perfect character for it, that'd actually be entertaining and family-appropriate without being cloying and annoying (Cena, sometimes) or a jerk no kid should be admiring (most of you know who I mean.)

RE: Shelton's face turn: I think it took place last week when he interrupted Zack Ryder on the Abraham Washington show. But I try not to think about it too much, as WWE has in the recent past turned other people without warning and with no real angle around it (John Morrison- I don't consider getting beat up by your tag partner grounds for an automatic turn; Alicia Fox, etc), so I'm not surprised they did it again.

Speaking of Shelton, I'm surprised they put him over Ryder so strongly, and in such a short match. It's as if WWE doesn't consider what it means to fans when they book quick losses of in 2-3 minute matches. They actually have me intrigued about a Kozlov vs. Jackson feud- intrigued, not necessarily excited. The ending of the Burchill vs. Tatsu match seemed like it was done on-the-fly, like the ref wasn't supposed to see the interference, but he accidentally did and had to call it.

Tyler Reks doesn't impress me much, but perhaps padding his record against jobbers will get some of his moveset and character over more. Christian has been the only good thing ever about the Abraham Washington show. I'm still not sure what WWE wants me to think about Washington's character. Regal vs. Dreamer was a fine match and I'm looking forward to a Regal vs. Christian feud.
