A.J. Styles hooking up with Ric Flair is a nice touch, and hopefully at the end of 2010 A.J. Styles will be a household name. I'm hoping they are not beefing up the new tag champions Morgan and Hernandez just to have them lose the belts to "The Band," as that is all kinds of suck. After the anti-Haiti remarks, TNA should have pretended that Bubba The Love Sponge wasn't even born. But lo and behold, Bubba gets skits involving another "Jeff Jarrett is gonna confront someone" malarkey. More Jarrrett drama? Shoot me now. Frankly it seems that TNA lacks conviction as a organization. That's a bad sign.
I have a friend who is a big TNA fan. She started watching wrestling in the 2000s, not the 90s. She grew up on TNA from it's very start. She has no idea who the hell Sean Morley or Orlando Jordan is. All she knows is that these Hogan Hoes are getting pushed over guys like Christopher Daniels and the hot D'Angelo Dinero. Eric Young can't draw ratings like the Nasty Boys, but damn, I'm more worried than excited about the future of TNA with all of these Hogan Ho-bags getting pushed. They're not convincing fans that they "deserve" such pushes.
Angelina Love is back and better than ever. Mr. Anderson manages not to injure himself, although there's still next week. The main tease at the end of this show was the possibility of Hulk Hogan screwing Kurt Angle in TNA's Montreal Screwjob ripoff. I joked that TNA was going to rehash old 90s angles, but hell, I didn't think they actually do it. TNA's Montreal Screwjob gets points for lack of originality, but it got Styles over as heel, Angle as face, and is hopefully a sign that TNA knows that the majority of TNA's fans are no longer going ga-ga over Hulk Hogan. Next week hopefully they'll simplify things instead of adding more to the booking mess they have right now. Due to the
confusing nature of TNA's booking right now, I wouldn't be surprised if Bischoff told me that water ran uphill and 2 + 2 = 5.

Full disclosure: I took a lot of points off for the Montreal crap, which was already blase by the time WWE did it for the 8th time this summer, not to mention the time WCW did it as well. I can't imagine how that made it to TV. At least WWE was playing off its OWN history. I can't believe the same Eric Bischoff, who said in the Torch Talk that Vince McMahon is wholly uncreative, backed this re-hash.
A.J. Styles came across more like Bob Backlund than Ric Flair in the opening segment, and I'm pretty sure that's not what they were going for. With Mick Foley fired at the end, we now have him fired, Jarrett on the outs, Bobby Lashley wanting out, Hall & Syxx-Pac being thrown out.....I can barely keep track of who is on the roster. I don't get Orlando Jordan beating D'Angelo Dinero, especially when Dinero beat Wolfe earlier in the month. Angelina Love rightfully crushed Madison Rayne in her comeback match. The Nasty Boys didn't bring much to the table other than the curiosity factor. Mr. Anderson's segment was kinda funny.

I liked this show more than last week's, if only for the absence of Jarrett's half-assed heel ranting and Morley's no-assed attempts at being a face. I have absolutely no idea what to make of the last segment. At first I was annoyed by the Montreal redux, but it was actually so blatant that it came off as more of an homage than a rip-off. I do have to say that this is an odd month to do that, since it comes off as TNA just trying to mooch some of the “Return of the Hitman” rub, which in turn makes it seem like they're not confident they can create anything on their own. Still, Angle's performance was spot-on; even if it turns out the booking for this plot is a mess, I have some faith that he, AJ, and Hogan will be able to make it pretty fun anyway.
The matches were good, though nothing special. The main event was of course fun while it lasted. I like what they're doing with The Beautiful People, but don't know why they were the only women (wrestlers) on the show. It's a little absurd that Orlando Jordan beat The Pope, but at least he did it heelishly by exploiting an injury. The only parts of the show I didn't like were the first couple Bubba The Love Sponge bits, but even they proved their worth when Jarrett finally acknowledged the crowd reaction, and The Nasty Boys doing pretty much anything. I could give a long list of people who deserve air time more than the Nasty Boys—pretty much every name from the Knockouts or X Divisions would work. The Bischoff bit at the end I found a moderately intriguing teaser, which I assume is all they were going for.
