Lucha Underground Report
March 25, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #20 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring Alberto El Patrón, Prince Puma, Ivelisse, and Cage. Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Announcers: Striker welcomed the audience to the show and plugged the upcoming matches. Vampiro explained the bullrope match then threw to Melissa Santos.

In-ring: Santos introduced Angélico for the opening contest. Next out is Son of Havoc with Ivelisse.

1 -- ANGÉLICO vs. SON OF HAVOC (w/Ivelisse)

Havoc speared Angélico then went for a dive, but it was averted. The fans cheered for Havoc. Havoc clotheslined Angélico from behind, then curb-stomped him. Angélico recovered and kicked Havoc. Havoc went to the top again, but Angélico kicked him off. He then ran across the ring and dove to the outside.

Angélico hit a high knee strike upon re-entering the ring. He followed it up with a standing Shooting Star Press. Havoc broke through and hit a backbreaker. Ivelisse started to complain to Havoc and she grabbed his beard. Havoc hit a standing Shooting Star Press for a two count. Angélico landed another knee, and went for a Razor's Edge. Havoc hit a huracanrana and went to the top rope. Angélico knocked him over, then climbed up as well. Havoc knocked him off balance, though, and re-climbed the turnbuckle.

Suddenly, Havoc grabbed a mic and said he knows why he is losing all his matches. The reason is because of Ivelisse. Havoc dumped her, then hit a Shooting Star Press for the victory.

WINNER: Son of Havoc at 6:41.

Post-match: Out of frustration, Ivelisse superkicked Angélico.

[Break]

Backstage: Dario was in his office with a mysterious figure. He signed a new wrestler and told him that Konnan had recommended him. It was revealed to be Hernandez. Dario went for a handshake, but Hernandez went for knucks instead.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced Texano for the next match. He was followed by Alberto El Patrón.

2 -- AAA Mega Champion ALBERTO EL PATRÓN vs. TEXANO -- Bullrope Match for the AAA Mega Championship

Texano and Alberto beat on each other until Texano tried to choke Alberto. Alberto kicked down Texano. He then kicked Texano out of the ring and hit a huracanrana. Alberto went to the top, but Texano knocked him over. Texano hit Alberto with the cowbell, then choked him with the rope. Texano hit Alberto over the back with a chair. He then placed it into the corner. Alberto snuck up on Texano with a DDT. Texano got up quickly and hit a dropkick, then went to the top rope. Alberto threw the rope at Texano. Alberto hit a neckbreaker, but Alberto tried to recover with a few clotheslines and a backbreaker.

Alberto stood tall and grabbed a different rope and whipped Texano. Texano caught Alberto with a codebreaker, then cornered Alberto. He mounted Alberto and landed a few strikes. Alberto lifted Texano and hit a suplex for a two count. Alberto signaled for the armbar, but Texano threw Alberto into the chair.

Texano left the ring to grab a table. Alberto drove his knees into Texano's arm, then lifted him onto the top rope. Alberto went for a superplex, but Texano powerbombed him for a two count. Texano continued the beat down with the cowbell, but Alberto caught him and locked in the armbar on the ropes for a tap out win.

WINNER: Aberto El Patrón at 8:24 via submission.

[Break]

Backstage: Konnan was training with Prince Puma. Hernandez interrupted and Konnan mentioned how they were together in LAX. Hernandez and Puma stared each other down, then Konnan grabbed his cane and told Puma to remember what he taught him.

In-ring: Santos introduced Cage as the challenger for tonight's main event. Next out was Prince Puma.
Dario came out before the match and introduced the new championship belt.

[Break]

3 -- Lucha Underground champion PRINCE PUMA (w/Konnan) vs. CAGE - Boyle Heights Street Fight for the Lucha Underground Championship

Puma dropkicked Cage at the start, but Cage clotheslined Puma to the outside. Cage picked up Puma, but Puma threw cage into the ringpost. Puma went for a huracanrana, but Cage caught him and threw him into the ringpost. Cage kicked him around and threw Puma into the steps and barricade. He grabbed a chair and went for a head shot, but Puma kicked Cage and knocked him over. Noticeable boos for Puma from the crowd.

Puma whacked Cage multiple times with a garbage can lid. The crowd chanted for a table, then Puma grabbed one. He set it up on the outside. Cage snuck up on Puma and smacked the can lid over his head. Puma landed another kick on Puma, then got caught mid cross-body. Cage drove his knees into Puma's side and the crowd chants were divided for Puma and Cage.

Puma climbed the turnbuckle and hit a Shooting Star Press off the top. Puma carried Cage over to the table and set him up. Puma then hit a 450 splash onto Cage through the table. Puma rolled Cage into the ring and went for a pin, but Puma pulled Cage toward the corner. Cage pushed Puma to the outside.

Cage grabbed a chair and placed Puma's head in the chair. He then drove Puma into the ringpost. Cage then went after Konnan, throwing him into the barricade. Cage grabbed a garbage can and threw Puma into the ring. Puma countered Cage and hit a chair shot to the skull followed by a suplex. He climbed up top and missed his 450 splash landing on his back.

Cage hit a heavy clothesline for a two count. Cage hit Weapon X on Puma, then hit multiple blows on Puma UFC style. Cage grabbed Puma and powerbombed him twice. Cage called out Hernandez then Konnan came into the ring and hit Cage over the head. Puma capitalized and went to the top again and landed his splash for the win.

WINNER: Prince Puma at 12:15.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Some really good matches tonight as you would expect. I am excited though to get back to standard matches, though, as there have been too many No DQ matches lately that it feels too commonplace seeing someone go through a table. Lastly, I can see why fans are starting to turn on Puma. Puma had two other guys help distract Cage, while Cage isn't cheating he's just beating everyone down. Obviously they are on two separate planets of popularity but it's comparable to Brock Lesnar, where he gets cheered because he's just that good storyline-wise beating people down.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Son of Havoc pinned Angélico...(2) Alberto El Patron retained his title via submission...(3) Puma retained his title via pinfall.
