THE SPECIALIST TV BLOG: Parks reviews Raw episode leading to No Mercy PPV Oct 3, 2007 - 2:13:03 AM
Remember when episodes of Raw right before a PPV were kind of special? Those days are long gone. Really, you could've interchanged this Raw with any other in the past month. There's nothing "must see" about the show anymore; it just seems to be constantly treading water.
At least this show started differently, with three jobbers in the ring. I thought they were bringing back the Rodney Mack White Boy Challenge. At least they put Umaga over in that segment, but Triple H, as usual, had his way with him later on. I've already seen Triple H come out on top twice now in this feud; why would I spend my money to see him do it again at the PPV?
The tag opener was action-packed, and there's few matches on Raw you can say that about these days. As much as I dislike Hardcore Holly, I like the build of the Holly-Rhodes feud.
The big news was the complete burial of Mr. Kennedy. After his blog post and his appearance on Fox News, it was no doubt embarrassing for the company for his name to come up on the Signature Pharmacy list. But to not get on the show until the main event, then lose cleanly in a match that should've had tons of buildup, and disappear while Orton attacked Cena was quite surprising. Looks like he's still in the doghouse, even after the suspension.
The rest was just blah; inoffensive, but nothing really stood out. Sadly, that sums up most Raws lately.
